Apricot colored pour. Cheesy, funky, stone fruit, wet wood, basement aromas. Flavor is sour, fruity, lightly bitter, dry finish. Phenomenal.

Really lovely beer, had it as an aperitive in Restaurantje ’t Klooster. Price is rather high, but with its unique story at least a one time must! Apart from the price the only downside is the bottle and package it comes in, I would have rather seen it simular as the 3 fonteinen 1999 with a painted bottle instead of a cheap looking label. Aroma is fresh yet intence just like the taste. Lots of crisp sourness combined with the wood. Complex yet easy going.

A - A hazy dark amber pour with 2 fingers of off white head recede to 1mm of head that never goes away, and leaves a few legs. S - Funky, earthy, musty cut grass, with a light citrus note. Oak is also showing up just like it did in the Lente. T - This is an earthy gueuze, lightly acetic, and has some oak. Mild and balanced right out of the gates. M/D - Medium carbonation with a smooth body, and a dry slightly tannic finish. It’s very clean. Lente is bright and exciting, but this is more traditional and so well balanced. Finishing a whole bottle would be a treat. I’d love to try this again in a few years.

Gusher, on the computer. :( Beer served in a Drie Fonteinen glass, a reward for all the housework I did today, thank you me. At the time of this review this beer is the #54 beer on the "Top Beers - Popular", the #2 beer on the "Top Beers - New", the #8 Beer on the "Top Beers - Belgium", and the #2 on the "Top Beers - Gueuze" lists on beeradvocate.com. Sounds like a good one to try for the night cap to me. Beer is orange and really hazy, huge head, that consolidates into large bubbles that break, leaving behind a mildly tan head, one finger, small and medium bubbles, lots of lacing on the glass. Aggressively carbonated. Dinging it for the gusher cause that was a disappointment. The smell is light, airy, with hints of funk, oak, slight metallic and a little, light sulfur / rubber. Smells like a Drie Fonteinen should. Beer is about as light in body and you can get, dry finish, burns a little from the acetic brightness and the heavy carbonation, but it burns so so good. Beer’s finish is uniquely oaky, more so than the lente was (although a side by side is in order right fellas?) with a stronger acidity and a lighter palate throughout. There is almost an alcohol, sulfur mixing in the late midpalate before the dry tartness of the finish gets you. The acid coats my mouth and gums. Great, very dry, very tart, nice sourness, great funk. A near perfect beer. Serving type: bottle

UPDATED: MAY 3, 2012 Had this again next to lente and winter. Has taken over as the best of the 3. Incredible balance of the dusty rindy funk and bright fruits, well integrated, great stuff. Numbers from second bottle. **** Drank next to lente with Armand. Pour is a slightly brighter golden orange than the lente with a creamy tight light tan head that dissipates a bit more slowly than lente. The nose offers a fair bit of cheesy funk and dusty earth notes. light mineral touch with some spicy yeast towards the back and some notes of sweetness. hops offer some light bitter citrus. The flavor is more sweet than the nose, less cheesy funk but still pretty dusty brett type presence. juicy apricots, sour peaches, light citrus and some hop bitterness in the finish. the body is sturdy and creamy with a lively carbontion and very dry finish. Not quite as complex or tight as the lente but great balance of funk and sourness. should become even better.

750ml bottle. Hazy golden-amber color with a great lacy off-white head that lasts. The aroma absolutely assaults your nose. I mean I started coughing. Intense nose-wrecking funk and horseblanket. Tasty as all hell. Cheesy in a good way with just he slightest hint of sweetness and a big intense tartness. Just incredible; very complex. Excellent mouthfeel, sharp yet easy to drink. Lively carbonation. This is a great beer. Not even kidding. It’s amazing.

Bottle shared at RBAG Summer Session 2012. Thanks Savvy!! Another highlight of the day along side Lente. Pours hazy amber with a nice off-white head. Aroma is pungently sour, with solid grassiness, and an unusal crushed nettle character. The taste has a big dose of peach, along with some grapefruit and nice sourness. Medium thin mouthfeel with a good length finish. Overall, a great gueuze that I am glad that I had the opportunity to try.

Bottle compliments of Frank split with him and Bill. Pours a hazy, murky glowing orange with medium white head and good sporadic lacing. Aromas and taste of peachy wood, 3 font funk, sour lemons, oak, horseblanket and all types of citrus skins. So sour and full flavored for a relatively young blend. Long lasting and complex acidic finish. The most sour of the armand series. Awesome

Riktigt gott.
