11.2 fl oz bottle. I have been on the look out for this one since I read about it in Joe Stange’s book. I was delighted to find a bottle at Blue Max in Burnsville, Minnesota. Pour is slight haze golden light copper with a pretty one inch fluffy white head. Aroma of straw, mineral and earthy malt with a mild sweetness near the back. Taste is a nice blend of the straw and grass malt and the biscuit floral sweetness, with interesting floral hop notes near the middle. The finish has the mineral and earthiness. Lingers just long enough to highlight the mineral. Really clean. Palate is medium thin, smooth, very easy drinking. I liked this one a lot. I am a sucker for unfiltered mineral Pils with a decent hop bill.

Appearance: Pours a hazed, dull, orange-amber body with a medium-large, white head. Smell: Doughy, bready malts with some sweetish hints about it and fruity notes of apple and even apricot. Initially, there’s no more than a dull spicy hop scent, but given a minute or two to warm it starts to really hijack the aroma. Taste: Light pale maltinesss with a light sweetness and a crisp raw graininess to it and underlying bready tone. The fruity aspects from the nose carry over into the flavor and pick up a very, very faint tartness. Spicy, earthy hops with a subdued amount of bitterness. Drying, effervescent finish. Mouthfeel: Medium-light body. Medium-high carbonation. Drinkability: Pretty good. The light, airy carbonation profile keeps this one easy to drink but there’s also enough flavor within to keep you interested.

This bottled brew from a bottle shop poured a large sized head of foamy with a frothy top fine to medium sized white colored bubbles that were mostly lasting and left behind a hazy with with yeast swirls softly carbonated dark yellow colored body and thick foamy lacing. The weak aroma was floral and malty. The crisp mouth feel was tingly at the start and at the finish malty aftertaste. The flavor contained notes of malt hops orange peel and floral. A decent one but not one that I would consider buying again.

Pours a hazy golden yellowish orange with ripe banana colored edges and a one finger frothy off-white head. Decent retention, slowly fading into a lasting cap leaving sporadic rings of lacing. Earthy hop aroma with some straw and grass notes and a nice grainy pilsner malt backbone. Pretty hoppy for a german style lager, especially one coming from Belgium. Bittering hops up front with very soft light carbonated, creamy medium body. Very earthy and bitter from the hops but the bitterness is well balanced by a pilsner malt backbone. Hints of straw and grass. Slightly lactic with some nice sour oak notes. Clean and crisp with a dry finish.

Bottle. Head is initially average sized, frothy, white, mostly diminishing. Body is hazy dark yellow, bottle conditioned. Aroma is lightly to moderately malty (grain, cereal), lightly hoppy (flowers), lightly yeasty (dough), with notes of apple and plum. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter, unclean. Light to medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. A shame it’s brewed at Proef, otherwise it may have been fairly good. Poor malt character, fruity in an off sort of way, and has a rather dirty aftertaste. Not good.
