(Rating #2487) Oakes (7618), Bamberg, Germany Jun 24, 2009 Cloudy, amber. Complex lemon and leather with light fruity notes. Flat. Very earthy character with hints of grapefruit and light leather notes. Tasty. swoopjones (1484), Buffalo, New York, USA Jun 21, 2009 Bottle from Premier Gourmet & enjoyed at Rudolf’s Lambic Tasting 2009. Pours aflat dirty gold. Typical funky, musty earthy lambic aroma. Taste, while flat, is extremely smooth. Nice sourness, acidity & earthiness. Flatness makes it more drinkable IMO Maddog (174), Kettering, Ohio, USA Jun 21, 2009 Had on draft at the Dilly Deli. Bottled in Feb. of 2006. Thanks for the suggestion, Peanut! May be my beer of the year in 2009. Light amber in color, cloudy with an aroma of serious funk and flavors that are overwelmingly tart with that funky, musty, yeasty flavors of a master Gueuze. This beer was definitely aged in oak, was crisp and refreshing and had flavors that lingered on the palate for a long time! A killer beer. bgburdman9 (810), Columbus, Ohio, USA Jun 18, 2009 Another old rating. Poured flat with a golden color. Very potent sourness and some citrus coming through. The flatness in this one actually pulled a lot of aroma out of this and made it more potent. Nice beer. Beershine (2268), Bamberg, Germany Jun 11, 2009 Bottle, Poechenellekelder. Hazy bright orange. Mild dry aroma of fruit skins, seeds, and rinds. Palate is nearly flat. Super dry. Not tart. Has superlative citrus rind and pith character. Lemons. Only a slight hint of welcome acidity. Very satisfying. darkguardian (385), Florida, USA Jun 2, 2009 16oz bottle. Pours a hazy light amber. No head. Almost not carbonation. Nose is light vinegar acidity with some lemon zest, and tart spiciness. Flavor is sour but not bitingly so. Lots of lemon and hay notes. Some funky sour notes at the end. No sulfur notes, and only light hints of funky cheese and apple to finish off with a light super dry sourness. Almost totally flat but you don’t really miss the carbonation. This is a terrific gueze. oteyj (549), Canterbury, New Hampshire, USA May 29, 2009 Pours a light hazy apricot with absolutely no head. Aroma is cider vinegar, citrus, clove, and tart overripe fruit. Flavor is hay pasture, oaked accents, tart cherry, fermented apples, and the slightest malt sweetness. Palate is smooth; lack of carbonation provides a silky quality that finishes tart and dry. Very enjoyable.
