Bottle at home. I am the worst at saving beer so here I am popping Lambic randomly. Pours flat orange but very appealing perhaps it’s subconsciously knowing what’s in glass. Nose is funky hay. Tastes of hay, fruit skins, wood, funky cheese, some grapefruit and slightly salty. Flat yet lovely palate. Linger red wine vinegar on palate. Lovely.

Bottle from 2006. Pours a clear orange color producing a small white top that leaves small lacings but lasts. Acidic aroma with apples, grapes, citrus peel and some barnyard funk as well. Taste is rather balanced, I had expected alot more sourness, faintly sour and acidic but quite mellow. Hints of hay, citrus, leaves and apples. Light to medium body and quite softly carbonated. Dry finish with a lasting acidity.

2006 vintage bottle thanks to Martinus. Pours a clear golden and looking completely still. Aromas of dust, cheesy funk, light mint and some rubber are what I could make out. Taste is fruity an acidity is surprisingly soft. Body is light to medium and there is close to no carbonation making the mouthfeel really oily. Overall a really nice "loerik", I’d drink that casually if I could!

Drank a special beer for this one! Clear golden, copper and orange tinted body with absolutely no movement at all and only the slightest bit of a white head, but that was evident when I had to pull the cork out of the bottle - no pressure from below. Aroma of sour grapes, tons of yeast, cherries, raspberries, funk and that ridiculously sour wheat nose - pure mouth watering goodness. Light-bodied; Strong sour flavour with a light grape and wheat note, some subdued honey and sweetness, but a largely mild finish with only some grass and funk noticeable, of course, with the sourness. Aftertaste is flat, just as the taste - no movement at all, but a sour grassy note, some wheat and hints of grapes and light fruit. Overall, a nice gueuze, but with no carbonation, hard to compare to others. This is surprising, since there is some sediment here (of course) and i’ve been sitting on this in good conditions for two years! I sampled this 37,5 cL split bottle purchased from Beer Mania In Bruxelles, Belgium on 30-June-2012 for €7,95 sampled back home on this side of the Atlantic in Washington on 22-August-2014.

Bottle at home. Vintage 2006. Pours a slightly hazy amber colour with no head. Nice aroma of horse, hay, rowanberries, citrus, forest floor and wood. The flavour is very nice as well with more citrus and oak. Has a silky mouth feel, and a light bitterness. A really well balanced, great and mild gueuze.

’Doesjel’ is a local dialect describing someone lazy or sleepy and this is what happened here: sometimes the (re-)fermentation of a traditional geuze evolves too slowly, as if the fermenting agents have fallen asleep or are just being lazy. The result is a ’luierik’, a lazy, ’underachieving’ geuze. This one has a very loose, thin, open, milky and rapidly dissolving head as a result of that, warm and deep orange blonde colour, light mistiness when the deposit is added; sparkling remains very limited, again as a result of the sauntering fermentation. Rich and complex nose of ’malse’ old lambic, elegant impressions of hay, lemon peel, sulphur, horseblanket, dry sherry, everything blended well together. Fresh lemony citric acid, wheaty, hay, soft and smooth mouthfeel, very complex with a very long, dry and sour finish, low carbonation as expected. Lazy fermentation or not, this product proves Debelder’s genius in blending lambics and has all the complexity and funkiness one can expect from a 100% lambic. Delightful.

Orange-amber. Strong scent. Flavour is really concentrated. Sharp, sour, dusty.

Pours a clear orange color...no head. Aroma has musty tropical fruit, funk, and mild cheese...nice funky tartness. Flavor is leathery and musty with nice tart rindy/citrus notes...Light stinky cheese...so Damn good. Mouthfeel is light and the finish is dry and tart with funk, leather and musty hop notes peeking through. Glorious.
