Quevillon (1518), Sainte-Thérèse, Quebec, Canada May 29, 2008 Bière #13 au Mondial 08 (29/5/08), bouteille. Amber beer with a thin white head. Tart, oaky aroma with some malt. Tart, light fruit flavor with malt, light wheat. Lighter bodied and very drinkable. Almost a rubbery note to mouthfeel. Lingering tartness and a bit of malt. Not overly sour - has a light acetic background note. Davinci (295), Chicago, Illinois, USA May 29, 2008 Very lovely light honey yellow color pour with not a sign of head or carbonation. Nose is sharp and tart. Tart grapes, apple juice, some leathery funk and oak burried beneath the tart overtones. Flavor is much of the same, tart and grapey/appley with some nice dry wood tones. Ends dry and clean. Body is a little beefier than a lot of gueuzes. My only complaint is the total lack of carbonation. A little fizz would add a lot to this delicious beer. Vac (2389), San Diego, California, USA May 28, 2008 Bottle at tasting at Chris Fischer’s (from Liars Club) house. Pours with a deep golden body topped by a thin head with a little lacing left behind. It’s sour and tart with a touch of underlying sweetness and a nice funk. Light bodied, crisp and dry. ratman197 (3139), Arvada, Colorado, USA May 24, 2008 375 ml corked and caged green bottle poured a clear golden amber with no head (still). Aroma is musty, vinegar/sour, medium malt. Taste is very dry, musty, vinegar/sour/tart, light fruit-lemon, medium malt, pungent. Occasional. Courtesy hopscotch-thanks Eric. BarKeeper (3), Brussels, Belgium does not count May 22, 2008 Really nice not started gueuse bottled.
If you never taste it, try as fast as you can, because this is the end of the stock ;)
skoisirius (570), Seattle, Washington, USA May 21, 2008 Bottle. Another solid lambic brew from 3 Fonteinen. Was excited to find this. More on the mellow side with not as much thick body, this one is rather refreshing. Almost smooth to a point! Lemons, oranges, funk, and sour are all present, yet mildly blended together so well! Definitely hope to score another at some point!
