| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 10, 2008 Bottle Hazy, amber/golden body, with a good head, but this disappears quickly. Aroma of citrus, orange, yeast, dust, ... The aroma is not that great. Heavily sour, lightly bitter flavour. This is very great beer, quite balanced and has a nice complexity. It lacks indeed some carbonation in order to be a gueuze, but still it remains nice. hopdog (5550), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA

Poured a deeper and hazy golden color with just a trace of a head. Aromas of wood, funkiness, citrus, green apples, and yeast. Tastes of funkiness, green apple sourness, with some vanilla. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 7, 2008 Bottle, shared with Axilla at a music festival. Poured cloudy gold in color with no head. Aroma of mild citrus and some yeasty funk. Tastes of acidic citrus, slightly tart, typical funky yeast, grass, and a little dusty. I love lambics, but overall this didn’t do much for me. I’d like to try this again. Ernest (4483), Boulder, Colorado, USA

No head.
Body is hazy medium to dark yellow, bottle conditioned.
Aroma is lightly malty (toasted grain), moderately yeasty (barnyard, horseblanket, cobwebs), with notes of sour apple and lemon peel.
Flavor is lightly to moderately sweet, moderately to heavily acidic.
Finish is lightly sweet, moderately to heavily acidic, lightly bitter.
Medium body, watery texture, no carbonation, lightly to moderately astringent.
I won’t lie...I prefer some carbonation in beer...it’s part of what makes beer beer, after all. It helps transport the aroma to your nostrils, looks nice, and it provides a lively, velvety/fluffy mouthfeel. So this sort of lambic is at a disadvantage from the start. That said, this is still a delicious lambic...nearly perfect balance as with virtually everything from 3F (clean, and very sour but not harshly so), and an enticing, if more subtle than usual, aroma. Great, but yeah...I still found myself longing for some carbonation despite knowing this is how it’s supposed to be. downender (2580), Bristol, Gloucestershire, England

Aroma is barnyard action, some vanilla and wood, tart and acidic of course, funk. Medium bodied, acidic with a light sweetness. Good stuff, if only it was a fraction of the cost. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 28, 2008 Bottle from Capone’s. Pours hazy off-orangy with smallish off-white head. Nose is Granny Smith apply, tart sour mashy fruit, mild funky and charred oaky notes. Tastes tart, with a very pronounced tart apple and pear flavor, plus significant funky, yeasty, and woody notes. whaleman (2171), North Wales, Pennsylvania, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Apr 26, 2008 Color like green tea with abundant fine particles and no head, just scant wispy carbonation. Nice crisp citric and barnyard aromas. Flavor has whole wheat notes, vanilla tones, a waxy element, smooth acidity, and pleasant woody dryness in the finish. Lack of carbonation softens this considerably. Very enjoyable.
