3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 henrikb (1258) - Aarhus, DENMARK - JAN 26, 2008
Slightly hazy dark golden body, big bubbled white head; A bit surprising the nose is not really big and actually I find it a bit boring and quite 1-dimensional, lots and lots of wood, oak and ceder, and maybe a little dry tobacco; Flat soft a little fatty body, sourish but again a bit boring 1-dimensional; In the finish is finally shows a little personality, the sour parts grows with malic acids in front, more complex aromas where the oak is combined with sour green apples and the inside of apple pits aromas. Strange to me that this beer has less character then the young and old lambics on their own, do they just mess up each and become nothing.

375 ml corked and caged. Bottle shared with Black95tt. Poured a very dirty/hazy golden yellow color with the slightest nuance of an off white head. Aroma is a very nice pungent sour fruit melded with some wet hay farmhouse notes as well. There is also quite a bit of lactic acid in the aroma. The flavor is no where near the sourness or tartness I was hoping for. Taste has a nice amount of sharp fruit flavors followed by some cheese funk and some clean wood tannin flavors showing up too. The palate is very soft and creamy with a nice presence of light carbonation. An easy drinking gueze for sure! Thanks for the chance to try this brew Brad!

UPDATED: FEB 9, 2010 375mL bottle, courtesy of ygtbsm94. Thanks, Brad! Pours a slightly murky, honey-golden color; minimal head. Plenty of funk and cobwebs and tart citrus in the aroma; lightly toasted oak and the slightest hint of butter; lacking a bit of acidity - not quite as mouthwatering as I’d like. Medium-to-full mouthfeel: a lot more tartness and jaw-clenching acidity in the mouth than the nose; dense, pleasant wood and very light carbonation; dense citrus and no deviating fruit; some creaminess and salt comes through with the yeast. Lengthy, salty and tart citrus finish; some stale oak and breadiness.

Sample from kmweaver. Hazy light gold body with no head. Sour and lightly sweet nose is horseblanket, cheese, citrus fruits, cobwebs and light oak. Moderately sour, lightly sweet flavor with lemon, hay, dough and melon rind. Medium body is soft with almost no carbonation and just a tiny bit thin on the finish.

Bottle picked up from Twickenham Beer Festival 2007 - Nose of sourness, orange, apples, cheese, skunkiness and acid. Pours an orange cloudy beer. Taste of lemon, cloves, chalk. Some warming from the beer. Apples and oak notes. Sweet in the finish. Complex and light bodied. Pretty good but for I prefer a Duchess De Bourgougne.

(Bottle 37,5 cl) Courtesy of Grovlam. Hazy golden with a small, white head. Sharp, vinegary nose. Medium body with sourish Brett accents and soft balsamico. Rather low in carbonation. Distinct yet still rather harmonious gueuze. 191207
