| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jun 2, 2009 16oz bottle. Pours a hazy light amber. No head. Almost not carbonation. Nose is light vinegar acidity with some lemon zest, and tart spiciness. Flavor is sour but not bitingly so. Lots of lemon and hay notes. Some funky sour notes at the end. No sulfur notes, and only light hints of funky cheese and apple to finish off with a light super dry sourness. Almost totally flat but you don’t really miss the carbonation. This is a terrific gueze. oteyj (744), Canterbury, New Hampshire, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 29, 2009 Pours a light hazy apricot with absolutely no head. Aroma is cider vinegar, citrus, clove, and tart overripe fruit. Flavor is hay pasture, oaked accents, tart cherry, fermented apples, and the slightest malt sweetness. Palate is smooth; lack of carbonation provides a silky quality that finishes tart and dry. Very enjoyable. craftycarl21 (542), South Hero, Vermont, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 29, 2009 hazy apricot pour with no head or carbonation whatsoever. Acidity on the nose is less aggressive than many other lambics, and has notes of citrus, cider, spices- perhaps clove, and a definite overarching tart quality. Flavor maintains the sour lambic quality, and has grass, hay, and a woody note. Tartness is clearly present, but not overdone, and lingers nicely. Quite a nice lambic. 1FastSTi (2557), Glendale, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 26, 2009 Pours to a flat looking apple juice body with no head. The aroma is pretty phenomenal. Sour starfruit, rhubarb, oak, lemons, and funky barns. The flavor is sweet and tangy. Oaken lemon zest and lemon water. Surprisingly not extremely tart. Some funky horse blanket things but mostly a clean lambic. Subtle flavors. Some nice malt shines through in some sips. The palate is flat and velvety and very easy drinking. Mild aftertaste and very subtle sourness. BlackForestCO (820), Fort Collins, Colorado, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 17, 2009 Bottle. Poured a lightly hazy bright golden-yellow color with a 1/4 inch, bubbly white head that eventually faded to a soft layer of bubbles. Aroma of dusty, earthy barnyard, leather, oak, funky horse blanket, and a yeastiness with some tart fruit (mostly lemon). Smooth, crisp entry with some tart citrus fruit (mainly lemon, like the aroma) with undertones of barnyard funk and horse blanket transitions into a moderate yeastiness with some dryness that lingers into the finish with some light notes of oak and earthy leather. Low carbonation, but the tartness and oak provide I nice dry, crisp bite on the palate. Overall a different, but still enjoyable gueuze that displays some complexity, but may have been a bit more enjoyable with some more carbonation. GodOfThunder (864), Orlando, Florida, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 14, 2009 Thanks be to The Cheeseman. Copper color. Aroma of funk, oak, dust and tangy citrus. Flavors are more of the same. Fruity, funky, sour and dusty. Very good. RollinHard (756), Fort Worth, Texas, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | May 13, 2009 Pours a hazy orange with a few bubbles, then no head. Elegent in it’s purposeful lack of carbonation. Aroma is out there for sure with oak, lemon, mustard, dusty library, attic, and definitely tangy on the nose. Tastes sour for sure with lemon, oak, dirt, dust, mustard and finishes lemony here as well. The oaky dry finish that I expected is greatly minimized here and the aftertaste is totally cleared up. Slick medium body, I feel like there’s SOME carbonation, but it’s tough to tell amidst the sourness. Funky for sure, and a little more citrusy than most lambics. It’s definitely sour enough for me. | 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | May 5, 2009 Wow - what a remarkable beer. Pours golden cider, hazy with no head. Nice apple vinegar and barnyard aroma, not so overwhelmingly strong, just appealing. The flavor is highly accessible and yet richly complex, easy to drink without overly harsh acidity or even particularly challenging barnyard/mustiness -- yet it’s so intense and so much is going on, lemon juice and capers, salted apple - wow. I can’t enough good things about this beer. Baffling to me the low rating it has picked up. Flavor could easily be a 10.
