RollinHard (748), Fort Worth, Texas, USA May 13, 2009 Pours a hazy orange with a few bubbles, then no head. Elegent in it’s purposeful lack of carbonation. Aroma is out there for sure with oak, lemon, mustard, dusty library, attic, and definitely tangy on the nose. Tastes sour for sure with lemon, oak, dirt, dust, mustard and finishes lemony here as well. The oaky dry finish that I expected is greatly minimized here and the aftertaste is totally cleared up. Slick medium body, I feel like there’s SOME carbonation, but it’s tough to tell amidst the sourness. Funky for sure, and a little more citrusy than most lambics. It’s definitely sour enough for me. OldMrCrow (1179), Seattle, Washington, USA May 5, 2009 Wow - what a remarkable beer. Pours golden cider, hazy with no head. Nice apple vinegar and barnyard aroma, not so overwhelmingly strong, just appealing. The flavor is highly accessible and yet richly complex, easy to drink without overly harsh acidity or even particularly challenging barnyard/mustiness -- yet it’s so intense and so much is going on, lemon juice and capers, salted apple - wow. I can’t enough good things about this beer. Baffling to me the low rating it has picked up. Flavor could easily be a 10. Bottle: The aroma is slightly funky with sour apple and lemon. It pours a slightly hazy gold with a minimal large bubbled head. The flavor starts with mild apple up front with a light-moderate wour lemon finish along with some faint oak. Light bodied with a flat mouthfeel. BuckeyeBoy (1639), Boise, Idaho, USA Apr 28, 2009 Bottle pours out a cloudy gold topped with a small head. Aroma of wood, some fruit and grain. Tast was fruit green apple. citrus grapefruit and some oak. Pleny of the pucker on this one. Thanks Jake frylock (996), Buffalo, New York, USA Apr 28, 2009 Golden brown and totally still with no head. Lemony citrus aromas are layer with oak and funkiness. Mildly puckering sourness. Hints of lemons and cider vinegar lead to a dry oak finish. Schroppfy (1810), Ohio, USA Apr 27, 2009 Solid oak astringency laid upon lemon-like sourness, grapefruit. Aromas of wet hay and horses, wood, stinkyness. Medium-bodied, very still as it should be. Great beer on a lazy day. Sampled twice over the last two months. Svesse (2597), Hässelby, Sweden Apr 21, 2009 (Bottle, Akkurat, Stockholm) Hazy amber colour with brief, white head. Almost still. Tart, fruity, musty nose with citrus, grapefruit, apple juice, old socks and barnyard. Tart and musty taste with notes of grapefruit, green apples, sour grapes and sweaty horse. Possibly not as tart and complex as the usual gueuze, but a very fresh and tasty beer. jeff789 (357), Pennsylvania, USA Apr 20, 2009 Pale amber color anywhere from clear to slightly cloudy depending on how much of the yeast you pour, and almost completely uncarbonated... Aroma of leather apple funk and oak... tastes of apple, lemon, wood, funk, a bit tart... quite flavorful, but not as sour or tart as expected, not as complex as some... almost reminded me of sour apple cider without carbonation... Not as refreshing as Gueuze should be...
