3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
375mL bottle, Feb 23 2006, drunk from a Duvel snifter on Bastille Day 2008.
A surprisingly dark color for a gueuze, with deep orange and tangerine shades playing about a strong copper background. Sparse bubbles appear on the very edges and the clarity is medium-high, leaving the sediment behind, as always.
Heavily lactic in the nose, with light mushroom suggestions and less tartness/sourness than I would expect. I must admit to reading David’s review before trying this and some residual sugars, that he mentions, certainly seem to be prominent in the nose, for a gueuze. They somewhat dull the resulting phenol bouquet, but I’m still hopeful for the flavor....
Hmmmm, very sweet for a real lambic, and without as much of the dry, oily woodiness that is presented in the Grand Bruocsella. Not to say it dosen’t taste mostly proper for a flat lambic, but there is a quick transition from sweet malts to a watery, overly loose finish. No flaws though, I don’t even get any obnoxious rubber or sulfur. Could just be my tolerance to it though. You want to score this one high, but it just dosen’t seem to be nearly as complex as, say, a 2001 oude gueuze or any Cantillon Gueuzes. More sourness please.
Will compare this side-by-side to a Loerik after a few more years. Loerik has the last word on lazy gueuzes, at this point.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20
2015 Vintage. Pours a deep orange amber color with no head. Aroma is light, oak, some earthy funk. Medium on the palate with very light carbonation. Not completely still, but not much bubbles. Flavor is tart, green apple, citric lemon, oak, some light funk. Very tasty. The under carbonation doesn’t take anything away from this.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Butelka. Rocznik 2015. Aromat bardzo intensywny, sporo obory i cytryny, lekko octowych owoców i białych winogron.
Smak lekko kwaśny, mocno wytrawny i trochę taniczny. W smaku funk, agrest, cytryna, jabłko, niedojrzałe winogrona. Dobry, ale jednak refermentacja dodaje geuze wiecej złożoności.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Rating #1900. 05/03/2015 Batch. Upon opening the bottle, the beautiful lambic scent fills the room. Hazy orange color with white head, very few very tiny bubbles visible. Aroma is the typical rubber funk, lemony, but residual sugars are definitely noticeable, in the form of some vanilla even. This gives an interesting natural sweetness already in the aroma. Taste is slightly sweet at first, then a big earthy funkiness dominates, a ripe apple fruitiness there as well, the finish is bittersweet and slightly sour, just right. Super-smooth silky mouthfeel with a very very very tiny amount of carbonation. Full-bodied (due to the residual sugars, which are unusual for bottled Lambic). How awesome is Lambic that even when something goes wrong, it’s still great? I wouldn’t mind if more batches went ingedoesjeld. Lambic with a body is nice for a change as well.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
February 12, 2016. Bottled December 10, 2009.
Light hazy dark orange with a minimal fizzy tan head. Aroma is leather, barnyard, oak, toffee, dried fruits, green apples, and lemon.
Taste is very light sweet and quite light sour. Finish is light tart with green apple and lemon juice, sweet toffee and dried fruit hints, barnyard and leather. Medium bodied, slight oily texture, almost flat carbonation.
Good, has developed some nice dried fruit character which worked very well along the funky and soft sour fruity notes.

Bottle @ Home. Pours slightly hazy golden, no head. Aroma of light sourness, leather, grapes, wood, barnyard, citrus, lemon. Flavor is light sourness, malt, wet wood, tart fruity, wine grapes, citrus, leather, dusty. Medium body, flat carbonation, light acidic finish. The lack of carbonation gives it a light winelike feel to drink. 020116

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
750 mL bottle. Bottled 12/7/2006. Originally reviewed 4/6/2013.
Orange body. Clear without much head. Thin collar.
Smell is standard Drie Fonteinen funk. Bright lemon acidity. Barnyard funk. Nice.
Taste is a bright lemony sour flavor. Funky, but not as much as standard 3F. Lots of pale malt and wheat.
Low carbonation, slick and not overly sour. Slightly sweet.
Nothing compared to Oude Geuze, but a great lambic.
