Yellow, large white head. Sour, sweaty, lemony nose. Sour flavor, but an interesting residual grape sweetness. Some alcohol comes through. Quite bitter, lemony, nice kick of brett.

Bottled: Orange coloured. Unclear. White nice head. Earth, tart, nice sourness, light fruit and grape in the aroma. Very very good. Flavour is imensely sour, but is balanced by a subtle fruitsweetness. Is acidic and citrusy. This is the shit. I could drink this forever. Ends in a fruity sourness, that cleanses the palate for new adventures.

Wonderful spicy lactic nose, rose, light malt. Golden amber hazy with light head. Medium body with medium smooth carbonation. Starts acidic, electrical ozone, crisp. Finish is same. After is lactic, hoppy, crisp. Just a little chalky. Nice lambic.

(Labelled as Drie Fonteinen Druivenbier)An amber colured beer with a small thick white head. Acidic fruity aroma of grapes and apples. Some barnyard notes in the background. Woody and sour flavour of grapes and red currant. Acidic finish. Dangerously drinkable

2001 Bottle sampled 2004 (labeled Drie Fonteinen Malviosia Gueuze): Barnyard horseblanket nose underneath some strong grapejuice aroma. Sour and acidic, gueuze is only affected slightly by the grapes, which are more pronounced in the nose than in the flavor. Woody and dry at the finish. Just slightly vinous, just slightly fruity. I spent the remainder of my tasting tickets on this one at the Chicago lambic Tasting 6/19/04.

Cloudy orange appearance. Nutty aroma with cellartones. Very acidic with fruity notes. Nutty flavor with malty and acidic notes. Finishing grape tones. Truly excellent

UPDATED: MAY 14, 2004 Bottled (labelled Drie Fonteinen Druiven Geuze).
Hazy amber. Fruity citric nose. Acidic and full bodied, lively and fresh. The grape character is subdued, leaving the field open for more regular gueuze flavours, but still adds soem fruitiness and bitterness from the grape shells. Intricate and complex, but doesn’t take me to the same levels as their schaaarbeekse kriek.

UPDATED: MAY 14, 2004 Actually, this grapebeer has been brewed on special commission for a Californian vintner. He also indicated the grapes, Malvasia Red, a rare original Italian kind, put on 100% Drie Fonteinen-made lambic. Thanks to special contacts at the brewery, I managed this sneak-preview. Colour is pinkish, like water with some dissolved blood, flunky, rather thick white-pink head, fast disappearing. Nose of “horseblanket”, fruity, sulphur, green apples, redcurrant. Taste has a sharp start, some fruit sweetness (bound to disappear with maturing) and a lot of acidity. In the taste, the fruit is either grape – or gooseberry. Very delicate ! Mouthfeel is very refreshing, with a beautiful subdued fruit taste lasting. Bl***y marvellous. And it all goes to California!!
