4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 KickInChalice (842) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - JAN 29, 2013
Poured from a 750 mL bottle into a tulip. Tasted side by side with 2011 Framboos
Hommage pours a hazy crimson color with just a tiny wisp of an off white head.
The raspberries are definitely noticeable in the nose, although the cherries are surprisingly prominent. A strong tart aroma has a strong acetic vinegar component to it. The acidity in the aroma seems to mostly overwhelm any funky wild elements that might be there.
Cherry is actually the stronger flavor coming through with my first sip. Tart cherries, overripe cherry skin, sour raspberry, red grapes, oak, and balsamic vinegar all come together nicely. The flavor has a gentle sweetness up front and then strikes a nice balance between fruity tartness and acetic vinegar. There is a slightly off-putting plasticy note that comes through at the beginning of the sip, but other than that this is very enjoyable.
It has a nice, smooth, medium body for a lambic that is peppered with vinegar acidity. The carbonation is on the lighter side of medium, and there is a slightly oaky and tannic finish.
This is clearly a well-crafted lambic. I thought that raspberries would be the dominant fruit, but I was not disappointed that the cherries came through so strongly. The plastic flavor in the flavor was enough for me to knock down the flavor and overall score, but everything else was solid.

750 ml bottle generously shared by cpferris. Big thanks to Chad. Pours a reddish amber with a small white head that settles to a ring and leaves some light lacing on the glass. The aroma is lots of cherry, some raspberry, a light medicinal note, and funky oak. The initial taste is sweet with some cherry and raspberry. There is also lots of funky oak and a light medicinal note. The finish is tart and funky. Medium body. Medium carbonation. Quite Tasty.

75cl bottle at Moeder Lambic Fontainas. It pours a reddish almost copper colour with a small white/light tan head. Aroma is big on raspberries with funk, dust and oak. Taste is similarly fruity with raspberries, citrus peel, big funk and barnyard character. Dust and oak. Finishes dry in the palate. Good carbonation. Rounded and bold. Aged very well apparently.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 hapjydeuce (888) - San Diego, California, USA - NOV 6, 2012
Opened in celebration of the 2012 Presidential Election, November 6 with my wonderful wife. Ive been hanging on to this bottle for roughly 3 years now. 2007 vintage is marked on the bottle. Cork comes out with a faint pop, pours a hazy golden cherry color with fine carbonation and a thin ring of head. Immediate aroma of acetic acid, funky cheese and sour cherry. The power of the aroma is nearly overwhelming. Barnyard and must is all over the nose. I cant believe how tart this is even with the age. The flavor is less intense than the aroma, with a dry sweet blend of cherry and dried grass. Flavor profile transitions from sweet to bitter cheese and yeasty biscuit, but incredibly complex. Undertones of old oak wood, wheat, peppercorn, rosemary and lemon zest. The finish is light and dry with a tingly carbonation sting on the palate. Overall a delightful drinking experience, the unbalanced aroma dinged it in my book, but the complexity gives it points. Well worth the wait, now we’ll have to see what the bugs in this beer do to my bowels tomorrow morning...
4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 JulienHuxley (1708) - Trois-Rivieres, Quebec, CANADA - OCT 29, 2012
My bottle, at our super tasting. Red pour with brown/copper hue and just a hair thick ring of white foam around the perimeter. Aroma is quite citric, lots of old raspberries, subtle cherry aromas, strong leathery funk. Taste is citric, tart, lots of berry tartness, the fruit comes off fresher than in the aroma. Palate is fairly dry despite the fruitiness, carbonation is rather low for the style. Very good, but not mindblowing.
