4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
UPDATED: SEP 6, 2012 Brought this to our mini Sunday whale tasting. Sampled side by side with the newest vintage of Framboos. Pours a murky purple, brownish red with little head formation on the pours. Itís rather "dirty" looking in comparison to Framboos. Nose is surprisingly full of raspberry still, some very light vinegar, and slightly phenolic. Raspberries are prominent in the flavor as well, with a little bit of plastic peaking through as well. There is less funk than usual 3F of this vintage, but I am actually ok with it considering how much fruit is still showing. Moderate mouthfeel, heavy acidity, light carbonation, and a long finish. I think a lot of the slack this beer gets is unwarranted. It holds up very well to Framboos and despite having some plastic character to it, it doesnít detract much from the beer. Itís an incredibly good lambic and one I look forward to having again.

3.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Red brown again, like framboos. Smells like a jar of Vaseline, others say band aid, dry wood. Cherry outshines raspberry in the flavor, tart and dry. Flavor great, smell not so much.

Sticks on the nose. The 5% cherry really comes through. Sweet, sour, hay, perfume. Nice!

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Part of a stellar tasting lineup at K&L Wines in Redwood City. Another one to thank Jim for opening. Perhaps it would score slightly better if it was not the encore to a taster of Framboos. Very good in all respects as it shows as a nice blend of deep red fruit with sour accents that blend nicely.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle: Murky, cloudy brown-red color with a splash of rusty orange; foamy lavender head fizzles down quickly. Insanely juicy aroma. Cherry, sour lacto, raspberry, lemon, even a touch of blueberry. Just a berry bomb. Soft sweaty funk, dry oak, vanilla, small touch of yogurt, & a tiny bit of acetobacer towards the finish. Lovely funk amplified in the flavor; wet oak, musty barnyard, cotton blanket, a touch of cheese, & some sweaty feet. However the fruity character stands just as tall. Sour raspberry, lemon, cherry; slightly seedy & jammy up front as it fades to a more acidic & dry lacto finish; tart & hinting at white wine vinegar. Oak finish with some hay, funk, & berry skins that linger. Incredible. Better than 3F Framboos, in my opinion.

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
Big thanks to richthevillan for sharing this massive 4000 beer. Another great beer he has shared me. Hazy pinkish purple beer with small residual head and patchy lacing. Aroma is raspberries, cherry drops and some funk. Taste is funk, sour cherry drops, raspberries, a touch of marzipan and a little wood. Great carbonation. Excellent world class beer. Cheers Rich.

5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20
Raspberry and tart cherry aroma with decent amount of oak and must. Flavor equal to wonderful aroma. Finishes crisp and raspberry with oak lingering on.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
2013 bottle. The aroma features tart cherry, earthy raspberries, musky oak barrel, and light vanilla. Murky ruby grapefruit in color. The taste is mouth-puckering tart with dried cherry as the prominent flavor (no surprise there) followed by lactic acid, a yeasty damp basement tone, and a mild spicy note that I cannot place. Prickly mouthfeel. Good, but I prefer the Schaerbeekse Kriek over this one.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours a clear ruby red with quickly vanishing head. Aromas are all over the place upon opening. Jammy raspberry, sugars, strawberry, berries, some cassis, yeast, marmelade-ish nose, lactic acid and lemon. Tons of fruit! Lovely! At start some sourness and co2, followed by soft tart funk of raspberry, then some strawberry hints followed by sweet full-on raspberry jam. The acids dissipate in the actertaste, while the allost cloying sweet character lingers on. Unique raspberry lambic.
