MartinT (4330), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Nov 18, 2007 Updated: Apr 24, 2008 My Bottom Line:
Spicy, herbal ideas are rooted in bursting raspberries, leading to gum-licking sour goodness and the perfect dose of fruity sweetness. Drie Fonteinen have crafted another masterpiece of a lambic which should be phenomenal a few years from now.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-There is no ring of foam to crowns the murky deep red.
-The body is sturdy and carbonation suitably lively (yet it never impedes on the flavor profile).
-These wild herbal notes within the fruitiness are almost coniferous at times.
-When paired with its predecessor, 1999 Framboos, we could notice many similarities in the aroma, yet this Hommage was not as mature and cohesive flavor wise.
-The juicy raspberry tartness makes you imagine a few seeds going by.
Addendum:
-This is already getting better and better. The nose is simply stunning and the flavor profile seems to be following now. A year or two from now, it could very well be as orgasmic as the Framboos.

radiomgb (1757), Peterborough, Ontario, Canada Sep 3, 2008 Deep red in colour with just a bit of brown thrown in, very thin white coloured head that left no lacing. The aroma is of light cherries, lots of tart raspberries, lightly acidic, some oak, sour. The flavour is very tart to start, dries out then gets a bit sweet, lots of tart raspberries throughout this, sour, some grapes. Tart mouthfeel, medium body, medium/high carbonation. Finishes long with some sweetness but then the tart raspberries take over.
A wonderful fruit lambic. Great sourness and tartness throughout this. I see this one aging very well.
