4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Opened in celebration of the 2012 Presidential Election, November 6 with my wonderful wife. Ive been hanging on to this bottle for roughly 3 years now. 2007 vintage is marked on the bottle. Cork comes out with a faint pop, pours a hazy golden cherry color with fine carbonation and a thin ring of head. Immediate aroma of acetic acid, funky cheese and sour cherry. The power of the aroma is nearly overwhelming. Barnyard and must is all over the nose. I cant believe how tart this is even with the age. The flavor is less intense than the aroma, with a dry sweet blend of cherry and dried grass. Flavor profile transitions from sweet to bitter cheese and yeasty biscuit, but incredibly complex. Undertones of old oak wood, wheat, peppercorn, rosemary and lemon zest. The finish is light and dry with a tingly carbonation sting on the palate. Overall a delightful drinking experience, the unbalanced aroma dinged it in my book, but the complexity gives it points. Well worth the wait, now we’ll have to see what the bugs in this beer do to my bowels tomorrow morning...

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Like Framboos, looks like freshly poured sangria; somewhere between dark pink and plum, with some frothy pink head at first. Medium body, nicely carbonated. On the nose, the funky barnyard smells alternate with jammy fruit. Cherry sits at the front of the taste, followed by raspberry and wine vinegar. Then, white wine fruits - citrus, light peach, gooseberry and so on. Dry finish. Possibly my favourite beer of this type, but these really occupy a strange place between beer, wine and fruit juice. Crazy stuff.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle: Poured a murky reddish color male with large foamy head with limited retention. Aroma of funky barnyard notes, cherry, oak and tart notes is pretty singular and awesome. Taste is dominated by cherry, tart notes, oak, plenty of funky barnyard notes with some light vinous/vinegar notes. Body is pretty full with OK carbonation. Enjoyable beer but also quite unique in its level of complexity.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Hommage ’15 vintage
Pours a vibrant pink, crimson red color, with a small, fizzy white head, leaving back a bubbly lacing at the edge of the glass.
The fruits are quite apparent on the nose, surprisingly even more defined by cherry than raspberry, while both create a great blend among a funky tartness. A certain ripeness from the fruits introduces a moldy, leathery earth component, complimenting the stone qualities of the fruits, up to a jammy, sweet peak. Apart from this, the fruits create a fresh, almost unripe impression, highlighting the prickly raspberry stone pits among wet hay and crisp lemon peel.
Has a lively, yet soft carbonation to it, resulting in a refreshing but smooth mouthfeel, with a mineral quality during the beers finish, complimenting its tartness perfectly.
Tastes of lemon peel, dusty, old malts together with wet hay, creating the foundation of this beer. Raspberry and cherry settle among this immediately, adding a rich fruitiness during the mid palate, perfectly blending into the beers lemon tartness during the finish. This lends a noteable sweetness to the otherwise pleasantly tart beer, sticking to its lambic roots, while adding an awesome complexity.
Its fruitiness is certainly a pleasant addition, while complimenting to the pungent tartness during the beers typical, teeth drying finish. A soothing stony mineral quality tames the prominent lemon in this, while highlighting a short, sweet peak from the fruits, adding pleasantly to the body of the beer.

4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
(750ml 2013 bottle @ Grote Dorst, Eizeringen, Nov 15 2015, split w/ phyllomedusa) Pours a lightly hazed light red-brown with a small dense lingering ring of whitish head, no lace. Aroma is so so very jammy, lovely raspberry and no small amount of sour cherry preserve given the proportions. A little caramel malt for body, fairly light lactic yogurt tang, bready hints, some oak and moderate wet barnyard funk laying over everything. Flavour is again jammy as anything I’ve ever drank, raspberry and tart cherry with a touch of supporting caramel up front, and wet earthy Brett. Sweetness is balanced by a moderate level of lemon yoghurt acidity in the middle with oak and raspberry seeds. Finish is fairly dry, moderately sour and a bit wine-like with persistent cherry and tart raspberry, a little astringency from the oak and fruit, and barnyard still present to match. Very long fruity aftertaste. Medium bodied with a little more heft than your average lambic and soft but tingling effervescent carb. Wow. Hard to do justice to, this is just a sensational fruit lambic. Complex and nuanced and yet such a jammy, honest extraction of the fruit character as well. Massive flavour concentration, very inviting to keep drinking. Beats Framboos and LPK for me, high praise!
