daknole (2802), Plantation, Florida, USA Nov 1, 2009 Amber pour. Overcarbonated. Loads of head. Too much. Aroma is funky and fruity with some vinegar qualities. Flavor is sour and just too carbonated. The flavor is pretty damn nice, but its hard to wade through the bubbles. DMRz (218), Durham, North Carolina, USA Oct 20, 2009 From a 750ml bottle at The Lion’s Pride - thanks Chris! Pours a light golden colour with a trace of pure white head. Strong, clean gueuze aroma with white grapes, earthy herbs, and a touch of meyer lemon. Flavor is deliciously tart with a touch more citrus and an interesting mineral finish that reminds me of a fine aged Mosel riesling. This is a very fine gueuze! RCL (1443), Waltham, Massachusetts, USA Oct 19, 2009 Pours amber-gold with a thin white head. A a real yardstick of a lambic. Dusty lemon aromas and flavors. Scorchingly tart, yet still quite drinkable. Light dirty undertones add to the interest. drewbeerme (2224), Chicago, Illinois, USA Sep 30, 2009 750ml bottle. pours hazed auburn with white head. the aroma has lots of hay and earthy grassy notes with vinegar, oak, and pear. flavors are really earthy with soft vinegar, cheese and perfumey finish. lots of dry and oaky character with pear and white grape as the fruit notes. a thin body and rather low carbonation. very tasty but way behind blauw. pantanap (1322), Chicago, Illinois, USA Sep 26, 2009 750ml bottle. Huge thanks to Andrew for this rarity...pours mostly clear medium apricot brown with a quickly dissipating white head... Aroma was very green and grassy with a mild funk. Not as funky with a barnyard element as blauw but still pretty appealing. Very earthy grassy and green lambic flavors. Muted, somewhat subtle yet grassy and green geueze qualities. Nicely aged with a grassy/earthiness finish. Very enjoyable but blauw still holds true as the better between the two. anders37 (4516), Malmö, Sweden Aug 16, 2009 Bottle @ Heeren Van Liedekercke, Denderleeuw. Pours a slightly hazy orange color with a small off-white head. Has a fruity tart aroma with hints of citrus and wood and some earthy hints. Has a Fruity tart barnyard finish with some woody hints in the aftertaste. madsberg (4873), Søborg, Denmark Aug 7, 2009 Bottled shared with myself. Golden coloured. Unclear. Dense off white head. Sourness, earth, light fruits and oak in the aroma. Flavour is very sour. Nice. Vinegar, citrus, earth, light barnyard and wood comes to mind. Quite smooth and balanced. Full bodied. Very dry. Sour grapy end with a light sweet touch. Very good gueuze. Madsnp (607), Odense C, Denmark Jul 18, 2009 Bottle served in a very authentic straw basket at DHVL. Pours slight hazy copper coloured with a nice egg white head. Dry, fruity and floral aroma with notes of raspberries, wood, musty basement and balsamic vinegar. Tart and dry flavour with notes of spice, lemons, wood, red currants and earth. Not as hardcore as the blue version but truly enjoyable. Lots of drinkability.
