3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Tap at the 20th Weekend of Spontaneous Fermentation. It pours a cloudy red grape colour, with no head or carbonation. The nose is daffodil, lily, sour red grape, wine, sweet cherry, subtle grapefruit and jammy dodgers. The taste is red grape, juicy cherry, spinach, tart red grapefruit, floral, lime and Granny Smith apple, with a dry finish. Well balanced, but not as sour as I expected/hoped for.

UPDATED: SEP 9, 2013 draft@WoSF 2011: dark pink with no head, smells of sweet, tart cherries, taste is acidic with lots of cherries, some lemon pulp, cherry pits & slightly watery, light & flat, very nice /// Had several glasses of this @ 3F’s 60th anniversary, looks absolutely radiant, quite a dark colour. Upfront it is pure kriek, some sweetness (it is sweetened but in a good (GOOD!) way) like a good batch of Girardin Kriekenlambik, pure fruit goodness, like a less brutal Intense Red. Finished with a tang of acidity not kriek but lemon acidity, very balanced, incredible stuff, so good. // upped score from 4.2 to 4.9

Deep dark ruby with a large pink head. Soft aroma, a lot of cherry, quite dry. The sweet cherry tries to cut across the funky dryness of flavour and carries on to the finish. But the dryness is more robust. Quite sharp and quenching. Soft body and flat.

Versione addolcita e riservata alla spina della kriek di 3fonteinen, buona comunque, ma non capisco proprio la necessità di addolcire un prodotto di per sé già piuttosto accessibile.

From a small box at ACBF ’11. Tasted side by side with the Scharbeekse Kriekenlambic. This is less complex. Far more straight forward fruit and lacks some of the intense funk of the other version. Both are good. This one was very drinkable, but if I had to choose, I’d go for the Scharbeekse one as it had that extra level of complexity. Still very good though.

ACBF. Pink beer with no head. Side-by-side with the Scharbeekse. Aroma is candied cherries, woodiness. Mouth flavourful with the cherries, quite a sweet roundedness. Nice amount of yeasty funk. Brilliant beer.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Draught at the ACBF 2011. Special version with frozen Polish cherries. Deep red in the glass, small head. Starts mild fruity-berry, mild-sourish, not too intense. Finish still mild-fruity, a but juice-like, fruitiness dominated the sour part. Wonderful cherry aroma with every gulp. Very drinkable. Well done!

Draught @ ACBF 2011. In a side tasting with Schaarbeekse kriek. Headless perfect red pink beer. Sour cherry nose, but not very sour after all. Good funkyness & astringency.
