4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
2002 Vintage. 375mL bottle at Akkurat, pours a cloudy golden orange with a medium white head. Aroma of classic 3F barnyard funk, some horse blanket and more barnyard notes. Flavour brings out a very dry palate, with classic notes of 3F barnyard funk, lots of horse blanket, wild yeast and lightly tart notes. Extremely funky, even more so than the regular 3F Oude Geuze. Extremely complex and full of flavour. What a fantastic gueuze.

4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Hazy golden gueuze with a thin white head. Wonderful aroma of sweet ground cherries, leather, dust, and basement. In mouth, a restrained gueuze ewith light cherries, tart, gypsum and lactic acid. A smooth gueuze, a bit lighter than expected but very good. Enjoyed with the Mtl Crew Sept. 9, 2006.

4.6 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
UPDATED: AUG 26, 2010 Bottled, 375 ml, 07.03.2002. Oak, honey, lemon and a hint of pepper in the perfect aroma. Sour flavor, but an eased down sourness, not too harsh. Oak, lemon, grapefruit, raspberry. Still some sharp edges, that need to be eased down by further cellaring. Great balance, great potential. Very long oaky and citric aftertaste. Close to perfection, I wish I’d bought more bottles.
Bottle 375 ml, vintage 2-2005. Special label. Honey, lemon and sewer in the aroma. Sour flavor with sewer, lemon, grapefruit, oak, honey and rubber. Very complex and especially aromatic, but the aftertaste is too rubbery. (8 4 8 3 16 = 3.9)

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle, bought @ Ølbutikken, Cph.
#2 Birthday beer.
Pours clear golden with a medium, frothy, white head. Fine duration lots of bubbles - impressive for a gueuze. Aroma is very nice, some cellar, lots of green apples, funkiness, lactic and citric acids. Still maintains a softness and elegance with just a tad of vanilla and oak. Highish carbonation, super dry mouthfeel. Just a tad on the watery side. Flavour is tart, but not overwhelmingly so, apples, citric and lightly lactic. Very soft and nice, but not near the best gueuzes IMHO.

Aroma is heavy malt (bread, hay, straw, meal), light hops (flowers, grass), average yeast (horse blanket, earth) with notes of grapes and cask. Light bodied, sticky texture, lively carbonation, and a sour finish. Long duration, light sweetness, moderate acidity and sourness.

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
75cl bottle (dated 17/12/07) from White Horse, Parsons Green. It pours a golden yellow colour with moderate carbonation and a large foamy white head. The nose is farmyard, grape, lemon, lime, grapefruit and even some sour tomato. The taste is dominantly tart: lots of lime, lemon rind, grape, redcurrants, grapefruit and granny smith apples, which mellows out to slightly sweeter notes of red apples and pears. It’s complex, very well balanced and smooth. Absolutely brilliant stuff and one of the best beers I’ve tasted.
