Gold Tin
Caged/Corked
Bottled: 2 Feb 07
Poured into my Gouden Carolus chalice a very nice hazy golden yellow color, very nice carbonation, nice one-finger fizzy white head, with some nice sticky lacing left behind. The nose is malty, yeasty, funky, very slight licorice, spicy. The taste is malty, yeasty/funky, with some sourness, some licorice notes, and spice. Medium body, the finish is dry. Very drinkable, this is a tasty brew, thanks Joe.

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 15/20 | Oct 27, 2008 Pours a slightly hazy pale golden-brown with no head to speak of. Aroma of sweet pineapple, vinigar, cider, quite pungent. First time I tried this was after a bunch of artificially-sweeneted lambics and my tastebuds were not happy. Re-corked it, left it in the fridge for nearly a month, and now I’m liking it a bit more. Very dry but with a lingering sweetness that balances nicely. Vinigar-cidery taste with a touch of spice, like cherry-pie (might be brett?) Thin body, barely carbonated. Not really my cup of tea, but complex enough to be interesting. Wouldn’t really want any great quantity of it, though. Many thanks to Boutip for the trade. dalekliz (546), San Diego, California, USA

This comes out a fizzy amber and you can pick out the sour aromas as soon as the cork comes off. Head is big and kind of soapy-looking. Closer inspection of the nose reveals a grassy, lemony, funky tartness. Flavor is funky and tart, but has lots of other stuff going on... apples and oak with a very dry finish. Pours a dark yellow with a fizzy, off-white head that leaves light lace. Musty, earthy aroma with some spices. Nice sour that brings out that white grapes, apple, and hay flavor. Medium body. Sour throughout, but not overwhelming. Dry but expected. Very enjoyable.
