Oude Kriek 3 Fonteinen is produced by ripening of cherries (both the flesh and the seeds) in young Lambic. This process takes between 6 to 8 months. After bottling the beer matures for at least 4 months in a warm room where the spontaneous fermentation in the bottle is done.
The head of Oude Kriek is very sensitive to the concentration of the cherry seeds containing oil and may differ from one year to the other.
On old Cherry 3 Fonteinen, no flavorings, sweeteners, or dyes added which makes this beer very natural and is especially thirst quenching.

Note: Recent labels may show the beer to contain 35% of Schaerbeekse Krieken.

Poured a deep red with quickly dissipating pink head. Taste of funk and abundance of cherries. There is some oak and definite barnyard and goat ness. The finish is barnyard and brandy dryness. Superb and complex tons of different flavors. A must try.

Sample @The Festival in Florida. Aroma: strong acetic aroma, vinegar, lots of cherries in there. That really brought a smile to my face. App: hazy pink almost purple, medium pink head, no detention. Taste and palate: medium body, lots of cherries in mouth, medium acidity and dry finish. Overall: great. My kind of beer.

Bottle, 37,5cL. @Pouançay, France, bar "L’Estaminet". A dark red garnet opaque beer with a medium pinkish head ; poor retention. Aroma of vinegar, wood, barnyard, smoke, cherry ; fruity is hard to feel when poured cold ; gets better when temperature gets higher. Light sweet, medium to heavy lasting dry sour. Light body, thin texture, high carbonation, smooth sour dry woody lasting (fruity) finish. Overall, highly enjoyable even if this one got to be tamed (tasting temperature ) ; nice balance ; sour but definitely drinkable.

Bottle. Pours a deep ruby red. Lovely beer, tart with cherry flavor but not a killer. Packs a punch even in a small portion.
