Oude Kriek 3 Fonteinen is produced by ripening of cherries (both the flesh and the seeds) in young Lambic. This process takes between 6 to 8 months. After bottling the beer matures for at least 4 months in a warm room where the spontaneous fermentation in the bottle is done.
The head of Oude Kriek is very sensitive to the concentration of the cherry seeds containing oil and may differ from one year to the other.
On old Cherry 3 Fonteinen, no flavorings, sweeteners, or dyes added which makes this beer very natural and is especially thirst quenching.

Note: Recent labels may show the beer to contain 35% of Schaerbeekse Krieken.

Bottle shared by Justin G. At Novare for 2015 Zwanze day! Awesome bright red color with thin lasting pink head. Aroma is vinous with red grapes mixed with cherry juice. Hints of musty yeast.

The flavor also is slightly vinous. Deep layers of cherry with dry oak and tartness to knock down any sweetness. Lambic yeast gives just the lightest touch of funk u dear all the cherry. Dry, tart and refreshing, nicely crafted.

[2015-08-25] Veriappelsiininpunainen, samea. vaahtoa vain lasin reunoilla. Tuoksussa täyteläistä kirsikkaisuutta. Maku on hyvin hapan, kuiva ja jälkimaun osalta melko katkera.

Cherries oak and funk. Taste real tart with some hay and barnyard. So superb in the balance of the goaty funk and the cherries. Awesome.

Bottle at Winking Lizard Crosswoods on 9/4/15. Clear red pour with a thick pink head. Aroma of cherry pie, black pepper, lemon juice and vinegar. Malty flavor with tart lemon and cherry pie characteristics before a sour lemon and vinegar finish.

375ml bottle enjoyed @ home. Pours deep and beautiful red with a tiny pinkish head. Aroma is sour cherries, marzipan, unripe red grapes, lemon, light funk and a hint of vanilla. Flavour is a little sour and well balanced sweetness. Medium bodied, lively carbonation. Finish is tart, cherries and quite refreshing.

Bottle. Deep red with a medium sized pink head. The nose has lots of sour cherries, leather, wood, almonds. Cherries dominate the flavour with some almonds, wood, light barnyard, leather. When the cherries fade the lambic shows more and that lasts into the finish which has more leather, wood, must, basement and barnyard. Soft sweetness balances the sourness well. Lots of cherries, complexity from the lambic and overall just a joy to drink.
