Oude Kriek 3 Fonteinen is produced by ripening of cherries (both the flesh and the seeds) in young Lambic. This process takes between 6 to 8 months. After bottling the beer matures for at least 4 months in a warm room where the spontaneous fermentation in the bottle is done.
The head of Oude Kriek is very sensitive to the concentration of the cherry seeds containing oil and may differ from one year to the other.
On old Cherry 3 Fonteinen, no flavorings, sweeteners, or dyes added which makes this beer very natural and is especially thirst quenching.

Note: Recent labels may show the beer to contain 35% of Schaerbeekse Krieken.

Bottle as shown. Pours a clear pink red with small frothy off white head that diminishes nothing. The aroma is a strong cherry skin and oak. Light mouthfeel with strong cherry tart and light sour finish. Very impressive.

375ml bottle pours semi-clear ruby red with a finger of pink foam. Nose is dry tart musty berries and dusty attic funk. Taste is rich tart earthy cherry juice, red pepper, light fruity acidity, and complex dusty wood funk. Finish is crisp, dry, tart cherry skin. Amazing!

Bottle 0.375l. Pours clear deep red with pink head. Aroma is tart, sour cherries. Aroma is sour but not overwhelming with a lot of cherry flavour and a good balanced sweetness. Great kriek.

75cl bottle, as schaerbeekse krieken. Bb. 26/02/07. Deep red, thin, almost no head. Barnyard, tart, cherries in aroma. Flavor has cherries, tartness, barnyard. Flat. Really tart, mouthdrying.

Dark red with beautiful small light pink head. Sour cherries, red berries, yoghurt, green apple, lime, cola flavoured candy, sourdough, touch of malts. Taste is fruity sour, which deepens into a very intense acidic sourness, then a light sweet aftertaste. Medium mouth, slick texture with perfect carbonation. Very good stuff.
