Oude Kriek 3 Fonteinen is produced by ripening of cherries (both the flesh and the seeds) in young Lambic. This process takes between 6 to 8 months. After bottling the beer matures for at least 4 months in a warm room where the spontaneous fermentation in the bottle is done.
The head of Oude Kriek is very sensitive to the concentration of the cherry seeds containing oil and may differ from one year to the other.
On old Cherry 3 Fonteinen, no flavorings, sweeteners, or dyes added which makes this beer very natural and is especially thirst quenching.

Note: Recent labels may show the beer to contain 35% of Schaerbeekse Krieken.

(750ml bottle at ~1 year bottle age, from Systembolaget web order) Pours a nearly clear dark red pink with a very rapidly dissipating loose pale pink head, and no lace. Aroma is deep and earthy for a kriek, with cherry flesh and pit, a bit of tannic skin, dry twigs, some mulchy, earthy barnyard and manure funk, wet vegetation, lightly acidic. Palate is very dry and the tartness is minimal at best, but extremely high effervescent champagne carbonation is washing out the flavours. Lightly tart cherry flesh, skin, light wood, dry earth, very soft lactic yoghurt character. A little marzipan in the finish. Silky light-medium body with mouth filling carb. Surprisingly not very tart for style, but not very jammy either. Maybe my least favourite 3F fruit lambic, but it’s losing out to very very good beers.

Bottle from BCS. Last beer for 2015. Ready for a rad, beer-filled 2016! Pours a clear raspberry red with a small pink head that dissipates quickly. Big aromas of sour cherry and ume with some light wet hay and almond. Bone dry on the palate with good tartness. Nice sipper for New Years.

Nice pinkish head which disappears quickly. Really nice aroma of berries. Hints of sour cherries and raspberries. Acidic at first. Some hints of redcurrants. Then again cherries. Sour, funk and rather raspberries in the aftertaste. Really nice lambic.

Pours a hazy bright red colour with a red head. Aroma is sweet fruit, sour, acidic, tart and cherries. Taste is light sweet with an overall sour tartness. I’m still on the fence with lambics/sours but this is very good.

Pours cloudy pinkish red with a dense light pink head. Good amount of fruit on the nose. Citric, mineral cherry. The taste is less fruity but mineral and stoney. Not very funky or bretty but more on light, mineral fruit. Even a little of the lactic qualities in both smell and taste. The mouthfeel is light to medium rich with low carb. The aftertaste has stoney fruity and light citrus. It’s good. 250 ratings yall! And I hate rating...

Sour/sweet cherries, acidic, lots of sulfur.

A red/bordeaux coloured beer with a slight pink head.

Starts really sulfuric with lots of acidity, then gets slightly sweet and fruity. Has a somewhat dry ending with white bread.
