Oude Kriek 3 Fonteinen is produced by ripening of cherries (both the flesh and the seeds) in young Lambic. This process takes between 6 to 8 months. After bottling the beer matures for at least 4 months in a warm room where the spontaneous fermentation in the bottle is done.
The head of Oude Kriek is very sensitive to the concentration of the cherry seeds containing oil and may differ from one year to the other.
On old Cherry 3 Fonteinen, no flavorings, sweeteners, or dyes added which makes this beer very natural and is especially thirst quenching.

Note: Recent labels may show the beer to contain 35% of Schaerbeekse Krieken.

Bottle. Deep red with a medium sized pink head. The nose has lots of sour cherries, leather, wood, almonds. Cherries dominate the flavour with some almonds, wood, light barnyard, leather. When the cherries fade the lambic shows more and that lasts into the finish which has more leather, wood, must, basement and barnyard. Soft sweetness balances the sourness well. Lots of cherries, complexity from the lambic and overall just a joy to drink.

375ml. Brownish ruby red, small head, no visible carbonation, murky. A: tart, sour, with a slight barnyard funk, gentle cherry undertone. Nice balance. T: sourness first hits the palate, first seconds its a geuze. Develops a mild cherry undertone with a nice acidity to it. Hints of orange peel, mandarin, some spices all start to develop towards the end. Really nice, reminds of wine. Aftertaste is mildly sour, mildly dry, with a fruity undertone. Classic.

Lovely cherry pink coloured pour. Cherry aroma, mild funk - very nice! Taste is cherry fruit and some tang. Aroma more exciting than flavour here, maybe could of done with some age here but still appreciate.

06-20-2015 - Nice beer, not as good as advertised, but certainly one of the better of its kind.

Red pour with a frothy pink head that soon vanish into a thin layer. Cherries and green apples in the nose. Medium (+) body and a pleasant carbonation. Nice balance between sweetness and acidity. Smooth nice flavor with cherries, green apples and wood. Nice stuff. If you like cherries then. Otherwise it is no point drinking this.

Red/pink with medium pink head. Soury cherry aroma. Taste of cherries comes out very much, soury but not overwhelming. Very drinkeable souryness.
