COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Oude Kriek 3 Fonteinen is produced by ripening of cherries (both the flesh and the seeds) in young Lambic. This process takes between 6 to 8 months. After bottling the beer matures for at least 4 months in a warm room where the spontaneous fermentation in the bottle is done.
The head of Oude Kriek is very sensitive to the concentration of the cherry seeds containing oil and may differ from one year to the other.
On old Cherry 3 Fonteinen, no flavorings, sweeteners, or dyes added which makes this beer very natural and is especially thirst quenching.

Note: Recent labels may show the beer to contain 35% of Schaerbeekse Krieken.

Deep cherry colour with a small amount of pinkish foam. Aroma is sour, full of berries and has some slight hints if leather. Some salty, balsamico notes as well. Taste is not as fruity as i would expect but still very good. Mellow sourness, still the salty balsamico notes and some almondy stuff.. good good ! Light and not too fizzy.

37,5cl bottle. Bottled 27/01/2012 (BB 01/2014) Aroma is acid, aceton in the beginning, later on more like a barn on the farm, wood. Dark red to purple colour, pinkish head quickly fading, some sparkling in this one but quickly decreases. Tastes is refreshing, kriek, sour, a touch of paint in it (but it gets better when the bottle is open for a while), citric notes. Lovely sour, sour fruity, but the aftertaste was not my favorite. I must say I didn’t like it the first sips, but it grew on me.

2007 vintage. hazy bright red with a small white head, little retention. strong red fruitiness - cherries but also raspberries, also cranberry juice, wood, clean and sharp lemon - very few acetic notes, mainly citric ones, very light yet enjoyable funk. average lightly prickly carbonation - fading, light body, very balanced brew with a clean and dry grassy herbaceous finish. very much enjoyed it!

From a 375 ml. corked bottle. Pours ruby red with a pink fizzy head that disappears immediately. The carbonation is low. Aromas of funky yeast, barnyard and cherries. The flavor is very tart and the cherries shows through very well. Finishes with a sour lingering.

Clear read, this white head. Nose of rotten fruit, like any other true kriek. Fruity, big mouthfeel, nice and sour. Great beer. !

0.75l corked bottle from Jan 2012. This one pours a scary bloody red colored body and it has a small quickly sidesticking pinkish filmy top. Oh my the aroma really fills the room! Tons of sour cherries, silo grass, farm, woody acidity and more cherries. Smells really fruity and definitely nice this! The flavor is tart, sour, some vinegar with loads of acidic cherries and more silo grass. It’s sour, but never to much, and the fruitiness shines through all the way. It’s somewhat dry, but there is still some sweetness left in here. Lasting cherries, blood oranges and strawberries in the aftertaste with traces of wood, leafs and vanilla. Oh, yes. Tasty! 23.12.2012

Bottle, 6 years old. Aroma sour of cherries. Taste is very fresh, acidic with suitingly discreet kriek taste hidden behind the acidity. Very nice beer
