Oude Kriek 3 Fonteinen is produced by ripening of cherries (both the flesh and the seeds) in young Lambic. This process takes between 6 to 8 months. After bottling the beer matures for at least 4 months in a warm room where the spontaneous fermentation in the bottle is done.
The head of Oude Kriek is very sensitive to the concentration of the cherry seeds containing oil and may differ from one year to the other.
On old Cherry 3 Fonteinen, no flavorings, sweeteners, or dyes added which makes this beer very natural and is especially thirst quenching.

Note: Recent labels may show the beer to contain 35% of Schaerbeekse Krieken.

Bottle. Horse blanket, sour cherries, oak.... all these aromas and flavors are presnt in this one. A very delightful beer that I wish was available in my neck of the woods, thank goodness it is available in Oregon!

A classic, and I was surprised that I never rated this. Itís certainly a more Lambic sided kriek than a Cantillon or certainly a Boon, but very refined and well aged so thatís a good thing for many I suppose. Personally Iíd like some more malts or fruit. High quality stuff though. (33cl bottle from ABS Drinks)

375 mL bottle shared by Gus. The pour on this baby is a bright reddish pink with a thick pink head that fades to a collar waving no lace. The aroma is very tart and sharp up front with a great cherry profile. There is a sharp tartness and great sour presence that is just awesome. The flavor is very much the same. There is a great tartness and solid cherry sourness. This really good. Sour, tart, funky. Great. Mouth feel is tart and sharp with a good carbonation and a lingeringly sharp cherry. Great! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Poured a deep red with quickly dissipating pink head. Taste of funk and abundance of cherries. There is some oak and definite barnyard and goat ness. The finish is barnyard and brandy dryness. Superb and complex tons of different flavors. A must try.

Sample @The Festival in Florida. Aroma: strong acetic aroma, vinegar, lots of cherries in there. That really brought a smile to my face. App: hazy pink almost purple, medium pink head, no detention. Taste and palate: medium body, lots of cherries in mouth, medium acidity and dry finish. Overall: great. My kind of beer.
