4.7 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 20/20
75cl bottle at home, 1996 vintage. This bottle was corked, capped and very dusty. The cork was very long...so long that I lost the end of it into the beer. The pour produced a crystal clear bright ruby beer with still a huge amount of colour remaining (almost as much as a new bottle). The smell was fantastic! No oxidisation at all and I mean none!! It smelled of cinnemon, nutmeg, clove and cherry. Almost like a christmas spiced beer. Everyone that tried it said that they had never experienced a Kriek with such a christmas flavour. As we went down the bottle the sourness was more pronounced and the pours where becoming very murky. There was a huge amount of sediment in this bottle. This may well be the most gracefully aged beer Ive ever had. Everyone agreed that it could easily last another 10 years.

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Small bottle from State Line Liquors. Dark red pour with a small head. Nice cherry nose with a bit of earth and funk. Surprisingly sweet for these guys, but certainly not too much so. Bright, tart, cherry flavor on the palate. Light and effervescent. Nice balance of sweetness and tartness. Very, very good.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
100th review, had it at Brewers Beer Bar, Gothenburg. Pours deep hazy red, a minor pink ring on the surface. Aroma is cherries, oak, wood, some sugar hints, funk, slight tarty vinegar hint. Taste is initially sour cherries up-front with a careful sweeter side coming along. Oak, horse blanket, vinegar in the back. Funky but not overly so. Dry finish. Medium body, soft to medium carbo. Nicely balanced.

Truly red bear without real top. Lemon syrup at first, but then the yeast and earthiness of the lambic kick in. Towards the (long) finish the cherries pop up and some dryness, probably from the seeds. Nice beer.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours a hazy red, not unlike a red wine vinegar. A Belgian yeast aroma is quickly knocked out by a heavy acetic presence and a plethora of tart cherries and raspberry highlights. The drinker is battered by a mouth puckering combination of acidic sourness, heavy carbonation and a dry finish. Again the sour acidic components of this beer ride front and centre of the initial taste, however after a few mouthfuls it starts to reveal a pleasant medium bodied red wine like fruitiness.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
[Bottle / 2011] Completely opaque, bloody crimson body; a frothy, lavender & pink head settles slowly to a chunky ring around the glass. Lovely aroma of musty cherry juice, wet wood, oak, mild barnyard & horsey funk, & a touch touch of lemon. Cherries on the nose seem equally as sweet as they do tart; nothing artificial about it. Taste is a huge cherry explosion. Sweet up front, transitioning into a tame sourness with a touch of lactic acid, yogurt, & vinegar acidity. Cherry bomb, cherry all day. Mid-palate to back-end brings out more notes of rotting wood, barnyard funk, & wet bales of hay. But that cherry still lingers. Not quite as good as Lou Pepe Kriek, in my opinion, but still a great cherry lambic, through & through. Deliciously dry finish.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Poured from a 375ml bottle. The aroma is dusty, woody, soft cherry. The flavor is very acidic, dusty, minimal cherry. Hoarded for too long. There was a solid vinegar quality with this beer
