COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Oude Kriek 3 Fonteinen is produced by ripening of cherries (both the flesh and the seeds) in young Lambic. This process takes between 6 to 8 months. After bottling the beer matures for at least 4 months in a warm room where the spontaneous fermentation in the bottle is done.
The head of Oude Kriek is very sensitive to the concentration of the cherry seeds containing oil and may differ from one year to the other.
On old Cherry 3 Fonteinen, no flavorings, sweeteners, or dyes added which makes this beer very natural and is especially thirst quenching.

Note: Recent labels may show the beer to contain 35% of Schaerbeekse Krieken.

Deep, deep ruby red in color, bright red head. Aroma is extremely sour. Taste is definitely a Kriek-hits you square in the mouth with a fermented fruitiness that doesn’t turn too sweet. Normally I enjoy these sour krieks, but this one just made my mouth twist a little. Luckily, the decaying fruit flavor dissipates into a sweeter aftertaste, but...

Drie Fonteinen’s Oude Kriek is a purist pleaser. Blood red color, pink mostly-fizzy head, and lots of lacing left behind. Vinous fruit and oak notes, and some reserved horse aromas. Mild tartness on the palate. Lovely balance between sweet and sour. It’s hard to imagine many better examples of the Kriek. This brew is a very special creation.

Bottle. A- Cherries, slightly earthy. A- Dark red color, dark liquid, minimal pink head. T- Cherries, subtle almond, subtle sweet cake. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, balanced finish. O- Very good stuff. Lots of cherry and balanced. Everything is pretty much textbook...Not a lot else to say.

375 ml bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 7/14/2015. Pours slightly hazy deep ruby red color with a minimal foamy pink head with poor retention, that reduces to a ring of lace that lingers. Minimal lacing on the glass. Aromas of sweet/tart cherries, strawberry, lemon, apple, cherry skin, almond, oak, vanilla, leather, hay, light funk, and yeast/oak earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of cherries, fruity/funky/acidic yeast, and moderate malt notes; with good strength. Taste of sweet/tart cherries, strawberry, lemon, apple, cherry skin, almond, oak, vanilla, leather, hay, light funk, and yeast/oak earthiness. Light-moderate fruity/acidic tartness and light tannic oak spiciness on the finish; with lingering notes of cherries, strawberry, lemon, apple, cherry skin, almond, oak, vanilla, leather, hay, and yeast/oak earthiness on the finish for a while. Damn nice complexity, robustness, and balance of cherries, fruity/funky/acidic yeast, and moderate malt flavors; with a great sweet/tartness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Light dryness from acidity as well. Light-medium carbonation and medium-plus body; with a very smooth smooth and moderately acidic/creamy/grainy balanced mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 6%. Overall this is a great cherry fruit Lambic. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of cherries, fruity/funky/acidic yeast, and moderate malt flavors; very smooth and easy to drink with the balanced acidity. Was hoping for a bit more depth in the flavors; but this was still quite impressive, and very enjoyable all around.

Red with pink head. Smells cherries. First taste sour than more cherries, well balanced. After all I read about lambics I expected something more extreme but this beer is very enjoyable

schenkt bloedrood met minimale rood/roze kraag. aroma van lambiek, zure kersen, hout, zoet, smaken zijn iets metalig, hout, oud fruit, iets muffigs, komt niet helemaal vers/fris binnen, lambiek, redelijk droog mondgevoel, licht bitter, hout tonen zeker aanwezig, matige/redelijke body, iets dun qua textuur, zacht maar zwak zurig... gaat.

Poured a ruby red color with a pink head. Aroma was of big sour cherry, light lemon juice and oak. Flavor similar, a bit sweeter than I would like, and more fruit forward and less funk than others.

UPDATED: MAY 3, 2016 W aromacie praktycznie sam funk i przebłyskami kwaśnej wiśni.
