750ml 2005 bottling.
Pours with a brilliant ruby body and a tall finely laced rose colored head. The aroma is absolutely divine! GOD… I think I have just died because my soul is fluttering! This is bliss on earth… as far as beer goes! A bold sourdough malty like undertone… a tannic, very mildly lactic finish. It is cherries and oak, and vanilla, and fresh yogurt, melded with a musty cask and old damp farmhouse cellar. Wet grains, a fresh bundle of wheat wrapped burlap, horse blanket, worn leather all seem to be blended with the most marvelous sweet & sour cherries you have ever tasted! The beer dances in my mouth like a silk drape hung beside a breezy open window… A most Marvelous liquid luxury! Schroppfy (1813), Ohio, USA

The clear pour is nicely soft, sour but also a tiny bit mineral/stone and a touch sweet. The yeast pour brings a still heft to the body. Incredible cheesiness in the aroma. Absolutely delicious, but not my fave kriek ever, and loses unfortunately due to the really high price. JoeMcPhee (5056), Jackson Heights, New York, USA

Bright red beer topped by a beautiful pink head. Aroma shows lots of tart acidity, both sweet and sour cherry notes. A bit of light lactic and acetic flavour, with the latter being extremely subtle but strengthening as the temperature comes up. Leathery and dry in flavour. Flavour starts to become more intensely and notably fruity as the temperature comes up as well. Lingering tartness and restrained funkiness. hopscotch (5558), Vero Beach, Florida, USA

Murky, red ale with a small, fizzy, pink head. The aroma and flavor are funky, sour and fruity with notes of sharp cheddar and lemon. Light to medium-bodied and astringent with soft carbonation. Finishes tart and dry. I’m a sucker for all things fruity and sour. World class brew! thebeertourist (2870), Oslo, Norway
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | May 1, 2006 75 cl bottle. Mix of orange and deep red colour with a fine, pink head. Potent aroma of cherries and lemon and some wood. Flavours starts with cherries as you might expect, and then develops lemony and vanilla notes before an almondy, dry finish. Complex, yet soft kriek that meets the world-class standard you expect from 3 Fonteinen. tjthresh (1782), Greenfield, Indiana, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 1, 2006 Full, rich, and well rounded aroma of cherry, oak, and the typical lambic funk. Red and purple, Robitussin looking, no head. Very well balanced. Not overly tart, lactic, sweet, or drying. Very easy to enjoy. 5000 (2900), Hardened Liver, Washington, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Apr 10, 2006 Bottle: Deep red, cloudy, sediment settling to the bottom, moderate foamy pink head, fairly sticky lacing. Tart nose, oaken, subtle cherry aspects. Smells divine! Tart on the tongue, bordering on sour, lingers long through to the finish, with an underlying bed of sour cherries, soft, yet unmistakable. Very clean. Moderate to full body, mouthfeel is fairly average. Dry finish, quite dry in fact, very oaken, immature cherry, and I cannot stress how clean this one is. I wished that it be a notch fuller with a bit more cherry aspect, but otherwise quite enjoyable. Thanks Steve for the bottle!

Wonderful aroma of sour cherry, no more no less. Another great example of a style I never thought I would ever enjoy but again I am proven I have been wrong.A great brew.
