2005 vintage, thanks to Per - opaque dark redish colour with absolutely no foam; deep aroma of black cherries with notes of vinegar and haye; oily with a good malt body; a robust acidity appears before a long and moderately dry aftertaste of cherries and rhubarb - a little lack of complexitiy prevents this beer to be relly great

UPDATED: JAN 6, 2006 Vintage 2003.

Ruby red. Dense rose-hued pad of foam. Airy phenols, cherry stones, straw, and cedar aromatics. Delicately bretty, irony, and musty. Fluffy and airy on the palate. Fresh, jammy cherries are balanced by an oak and brett-induced briskness. Sharp but relatively understated acidity. Leather and scratchy mineral textures trigger a faint medicinal twinge. Finishes oaky dry, chalky, and rustically interwoven with herbs and straw flavored malt as cherry stones contribute more sound firmness. Not terribly complex, but a wonderfully pure Kriek.

2003 vintage sampled at Logan’s RateBeer tasting. Major thanks to BBB63. Hazy, dull cherry body and an effervescent white head with a subtle pink tone. Aroma of musty sour cherries, horse blanket and faded leather. Acidity is high but not sharp or overpowering and balanced by some low to medium bitterness. This is an outstanding, quenching, wild, and pleasing kriek and another stunner from Drie Fonteinen. Easily my favorite fruit lambic.

Poured a hazy, red color with a small, off white / pink head that left light lacing on the glass. Aroma of tart cherry, light sweetness, barnyard, and vanilla. Taste was balanced nicely, cherries, leather, some nice tartness, lots of vanilla oak, and finishing acidic. Sweet cherries balanced out the crisp sourness, I like it.

(75 cl bottle 5% ABV) Red colour, no head. Juicy cherry aroma. Very little carbonation. Clean, sourish cherry flavour. Cherry stone bitter finish. Well balanced.

Pours red with a pink head. Strong jerry aroma dominates. Flavour is a wonderful balance of sweet sugar and incredibly juicy cherries. Lovely berrie notes too. So juicy and tart, yet clean in flavour. Wonderful!

(RBESG05, 750ml bottle) Pink head atop a red-pink body. Aroma is mild sweet, tart/sour cherry. Taste is mild sweet, cherry, tart, sour, with just enough sweetness to offset the sourness. Light body with light acidity.

Bottle bought and kindly shared by Kook at Plan B during RBESG 05 pub crawl. Bright red, with a good pink head. Tart aroma of shifting sour cherry. Super sour initially, then even more on the finish. Cherry flavour is not massive in my opinion, overtaken by a very fizzy, sourness. Very long finish. Excellent Lambic, but I think I prefer DF’s standard Kriek.

Great looking red beer with a bubbly pink head. Aroma is tart cherries, sponge, cinnamon and wood. Taste is both tart and sweet, acidic and sour cherries. This is as good of a Belgian beer that Ive ever had. Remarkable. Thanks Clark for sharing this rare gem.
