[Rated 09/07/2010] Bottle. Pours ruby red, like wine with very thin fizzy head. I can smell the cherries as I am pouring. Aroma is mild, a little sweet and not too bitter and as I was preparing for similar taste I was very surprised to find that flavor is precisely the opposite -- bitter with no hints of sugars. The feel on the palete is still very mild. Leaves a nice light finish with hints of cherries. Often I can sense metallic off-flavors in some cheaper and less-developped lambics (gueuzes mainly, but sometimes krieks, too). Not this one, this beer is truly a matvel, a ruby red marvel.

#200! Bottle at home with my best friends. Poured a glowing magenta, with a small pink head. Smell is oak, brett, barnyard, tart cherries, light vinegar, and floral. Taste is highly acidic and sour from start to finish. Hints of funk, huge tart cherries, some oak, and vinegar. Body is very thin, as expected, with fizzy carbonation. Mouth-puckering sour and a treat to have. Great lambic and I’m glad I made this one a milestone. Delicious.

Bottle 750 ml. Nice red colour with a little pink head, quickly diminishing. No lacing. Aroma is of cherry and sourness. Taste is very sour at first, but as we drink it tends to become more sweet. Syrupy texture. Overall, it is a really good beer for those who like this style of beer. Bouteille 750 ml.

Bottle 750 ml. Pours dark red with a medium disappearing pink head. Some lacing. Aroma of sour cherries, barnyard and wood. Taste is of sour cherries at first followed by a sweet cherries taste. Acidic. Mouthfeel is dry and astringent. Overall, it’s a nice complex and well balanced beer. Less explosive than their Oude Kriek and definitely more enjoyable.

Pours a light red with no head but visible carbonation. Aroma of oak, funk and cherries, just as any good kriek. Taste and mouthfeel is where this really shines. Taste rich of cherries, oak and funk back up the cherries nicely. Tart like no other I’ve had, mouth puckering in the best way possible. This is a real treat

Bottle at Sour & Bitter, shared with Evil stepdad and Beerbiker: Light red in color, white head. Fresh unripe cherry aroma with a complex funky bakcground. Extremly sour flavor, like biting an unripe green apple.

750ml dtd Apr 2011. Ruby red. well carbonated but not excessively. Nice and tart witout being overbearingly sour. It’s been a while but this is probably my fav kriek, beating lou pepe, de ranke, hanssens, de cam, etc... Crushable if not for the cost ~ $35.

UPDATED: MAY 4, 2012 Dark ruby red colour, very beautiful, pinkish head. Aroma of sour cherries, cherry pips, wood, almonds and marzipan. Light tart flavour, light sour, very fruity cherries. Light astringent, tannines and almond. Fruity cherry finish, very refreshing. Utterly nice!
