4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 tastybeer (1313) - Bloomington, Indiana, USA - FEB 12, 2013’08 Bottle courtesy GT via my dad. Thanks! Dark ruby pour, very light pink head. Good retention/little lace. Aroma of raspberry, funk, dust, barrel, cherry. Taste is lightly sweet, tart, dusty, raspberry, funk. Palate is very soft, even a bit creamy, lightly sour finish. Excellent, very easy drinking lambic.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 DavoleBomb (1444) - Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 25, 2013
Poured into a tulip. Vintage of 25/04/2011 with a best before of 04/2016. This is the van schaerbeekse krieken version.
3.5 A: Well hazed cherry plum color. Just about a finger of frothy pink head. Retention isn’t great and no lacing is left.
4.5 S: Big, bold tart cherry - very welcoming. Like most 3F brews, this has a minimal acetic sourness and plenty of funk. Tangy fruity funk from lactic acid, musty basement, sweat socks, dry dusty wood planks. Light mixed berry noes underneath. Oak with a touch of vanilla. Touch of garbage-like funkiness to round this out. Very complex in the funk department and great interplay with the cherry. I guess I could use a little more sourness, but I’d take this any day over Cantillon’s ass-puckering sourness.
4.5 T: The taste gives a nice tart punch that wasn’t present in the nose. There’s also more acetic sourness that I would have expected if you know what I mean when I differentiate between tartness and sourness. Cherry is definitely a big part of the taste and is quite potent. Just enough sweetness to balance the sourness. The funk, however, either isn’t as strong as in the nose or is just hidden behind the rising components of the taste. However, the funk is still easily detectable and adds to the complexity quite a bit, it just isn’t as strong as in the nose. Musty basement, apple orchard, sweat socks, and dry wood. Oak with plenty of vanilla. Very nice.
3.5 M: Lighter medium body. Carbonation is on the lower end, but is fine. The issue I have is that the carbonation isn’t very spritzy, which is something I like in these sort of styles. Light creaminess. Super smooth.
4.0 D: Another quality beer from 3F. A funk lovers kriek to be sure.

Pours a rich ruby red color with a finger of pink foam. The nose is spicy oak, ripe cherry pie and a trace of acidic tart funk. The palate follows the nose as the spicy oak opens up into a tart cherry, old dusty basement oak. Finish is puckering dry and lingers with earthy cherry pit.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 JStax (1673) - Devola/Marietta, Ohio, USA - MAR 23, 2013
Poured from a 750 ml bottle thanks to adnielsen. Pours a bright ruby red with a slightly pink head of foam that dissipates fairly quickly. Aroma is really fresh cherries with just a hint at the sourness to ensue. Taste is mouth drying, enamel eating sour. More sour than the original kriek. Really sour cherries. Mouthfeel is thick and almost syrupy, but still thin enough to maintain it’s sourness throughout the drink. Fuck is this sour. Love it!

Bottle. Hazy red with no head. Looks kinda like tomato juice. Aroma: frunky lambic notes with nutty cherries and oak. More complex than my notes describe. Lovely! Taste: medium to high sourness with rich cherry notes, nuts, stable funk, hay, some citrus notes. A really nice kriek that I enjoyed alot!
