10/11/2013 330ml bottle shared @ La Tana (thanks Valeriotto!). Nera, densa, quasi impenetrabile, schiuma cappuccino media, bella persistente. Al naso un po’ sporca e disomogenea, sentori di tostato leggeri, muffa, pomodori acidi. In bocca va decisamente meglio, tostato e acido si fondono relativamente bene, nonostante qualche spigolosità, la beva è buona. Corpo medio, carbonazione soft. Bella birra!

On draught at Novare Res. Nose is slightly tart and subtle chocolate with hints of cherry and fruits. Taste is roasty dark subtle chocolate, grapes, plum notes, fruity yeast, not much tartness. Finish is a mild fruity bitterness and earthy yeast. Good.

Bottle at Monks Cafe.
Appearance: Pitch black body with a tall tan head, great retention.
Aroma: Chocoloate with an earthy presence, light cherry aromas.
Taste: Mild chocolate, roast and fruity undertones, light tartness underlying it. Very nice balance.
Palate: Full bodied with moderate carbonation.
Overall: Great porter with a good complexity through it while maintaining a great balance and great flavor.

Light Belgian yeast aroma. Pours dark with medium thick tan foam with good lacing in the drink. As the brew warms the flavors of malt, mild sourness of lambic come forward. It is smooth on the palate and overall a very good beer.

Reminds me of the sour stouts that were all the rage a year or two back, nice lambic-like tartness with some sweet chocolate flavors.
