2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
BOTTLE: at first, the aroma is not so bad; there is a shy but nice for what-it-is perfume of saaz hops, quickly replaced by an awesome fragrance ofjaritataca (skunk that is) and some hints of honey and there is a nice kind-of-pilsner color: blonde. yup, blonde. there you go: a real, true, authentic brazilian american pilsner. the thing is that there is no bitterness per se, it’s more about the very unpleasant acridness (a problem with the preservation of the bottle maybe? the sticker says best before august 30, 2012 thought and i bought it in mid-december, 2011... but the environment of the shop where i bought it could have been a problem; no air conditioned inside and it was more than 40°C outside and it was not stocked in any refrigerator). to me, it’s just another problematic brazilian beer, that was brewed with very good intentions. it’s why i always feel bad rating those beers. they do try to be different, but they just fail at it.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Deep golden with a very small white head. Aroma is dark sugar, honey, caramel, molasses, some citric and herbal notes. Taste is very hoppy (passion fruit, pineapple, herbs, lemon, orange), with the sweetness of dark sugar, tastes like honey. Very balanced. Strong bitter aftertaste. Great lager!

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Feliz 2015!

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: DEC 15, 2014 350ml bottle served in a pokal glass.
Bottle art looks like a reference to the American Flying Dog brewery beers.
This beer is part of the "extreme series" produced by Backer, a brewery located in the state of Minas Gerais - Brazil.
It’s a 5% ABV American style Pilsen brewed with "açúcar mascavo", brown cane sugar.
A: Pours an orange clear color forming a medium, thin bubbled white head. Medium retention forming a lot of thing and lingering lacings in the glass
S: Extremely grassy and piny in the nose. Sweet and malty. Crispy. Strong notes of Pilsen and pale malts. Good combination of flowery aromatic hops
T: Sightly sweet upfront. Great malty backbone. Good combination of American and Czech hops (Good notes of piny hops). Great bitter end (well applied 31.5 IBUs). IMHO, the açúcar mascavo not only improves the hops bitterness, but also orchestrates, somehow, the combination of malts and hops adding some light sour notes to the final taste
M: Light body. Good carbonation. Sweet malts, piny hops and some sour notes in the aftertaste
O: Good drinkability. Unique, refreshing and pleasant Pilsener. Another Três Lobos quality beer

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
355ml bottle (exp 30-3-15). Dark golden pour with average sized white head. Soft aromas of honey, grains and a hint of orange that is also reflected in the taste. Not much hop bitterness for a pilsner. Sweet malty palate with flattish carbonation. Not really a pilsner but still OK.
