Extreme Series, a varied composition of specialty malts and heavily-hopped. In the manufacturing process, 90 days of aging occurs in Umburana wooden barrels . Cerveja Backer 3 Lobos Bravo, do tipo Imperial Porter, com variada composição de maltes especiais e maior lupulagem, maturada em barris de umburana por 90 dias, cor escura e teor alcoólico de 9%.

355mL bottle, courtesy of Gilberto. Pours a dark cola-brown color with a medium-tan head; well formed with nice lacing. Layers of molasses, brown sugar, cinnamon, and wood, with an herbal and alcoholic layer underneath. Aromatic and generous throughout. Lively, velvety carbonation with a lean-feeling, medium-full body; following the aroma, notes of molasses and cinnamon, "light but not wimpy," as my wife put it, with a touch of spiciness, ginger, and fruity alcohol (certainly) poking through, keeping things alive and light on the palate. Really nice, rich wood character (like notes of bright oak), and an interesting, assertive presence on the palate. Candied notes and some crystallized brown sugar in the finish, some lingering bitterness.

Bottle via trade with Marlos. BB 03/2016. Brune foncée, col fin moka, doré au verre. Arôme est agréable au bouquet très prenant. Retrouve un agréable fruité noir, pointe de vanille en rétro, boisé et chocolaté. Palais est réchauffant, certaine douceur se fait sentir. Douceur chocolaté presque de cabosse.Petit côté boisé très plaisant, chocolaté presque noisette. Alcool ressort bien, grillé, choco fin et poudreux. Très belle surprise.

Thanks to Tognetta. Black color with a light beige head with medium duration, medium lacing. Aroma has notes of toasted malts with sweet notes. Flavor is slightly sweet, slightly coffee beans notes with some caramel hints. Light bitterness in the final with caramelish hints.

Bottle at home. First smell some toffee and coffee. First sip some freshness, light carbonization, some coffee and some prunes. In the back of the sip, comes some sweetness, and it has a small bitter aftertaste. Not what I expected, a bit more sweet and more coffee, but very well done. Totalmente negra, espuma marrom de média formação, pouca retenção. Aroma adocicado, bala de café, leve defumado, amadeirada, cachaça. Paladar defumado, amargor leve e dulçor médio, coco. Aftertaste intenso e duradouro. Corpo licoroso, alcoólico, carbonatação bem baixa. Achei o defumado mais aparente do que necessário, mas a adição da cachaça foi bem feita, apesar de ter apagado um pouco das características do estilo.

Clear reddish brown beer, aery big fluffy beige head, little stable, adhesive, leaving a nice lacing in the glass. Aroma: sweet, caramel, bit sugary, spices, cinnamon, ginger bread. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: very spicy, cinnamon, chocolate, ginger bread, some caramel. Aftertaste: very spicy, ginger, cinnamon, coffee, mocha, dried dates. Pairs very well with some real Stilton cheese!

Escura,levemente licorosa,espuma marrom alta,cremosa e duradoura:aroma inicial herbáceo,frutado,cítrico,notas amadeiradas,café e chocolate amargo se seguem;no sabor malte torrado se sobressai,baunilha e amargor do lúpulo complementam,álcool bem inserido,retrogosto seco e amargo. Boa porter.

A decent barreled porter. Pours a thick black with absolutely no head. Smells of rum, sugar cane and vanilla. Taste is almost like port, quite viscous, almost no carbonation, with some rum, wine and slight vanilla. This particular bottle may have been a bit flat.

On tap at the brewery. Solid black with beige persistent thin head. Amazing aroma, vanilla, cinnamon, caramel, coffee, wood. Taste is toasted malts, coffee, brown sugar. Sweet and medium bitter. Medium body, quite thin for the complexity of the beer. Very nice imperial porter, specially on tap.

UPDATED: JUN 7, 2015 (11/04/2015) Courtesey of Kraddel. Sampled 330 ml. bottle @ De Rampkrot. BBF 30/03/2015. Blackish dark brown with no head. Nose is soy sauce, herbal, pure fish guts, overly umami & flat. Taste is weird combination of vanilla upfront, plenty of it and sugar sweet followed by flat soy sauce, fish guts, umami, herbal,…. Nearly flat, nope this isn’t it. // (07/06/2015) 355 ml. bottle @ home. Obtained in a trade with Marlos. Thanks! BBF 03/2016. A much fresher bottle. Brazilian breweries seem to be obsessed by plastering awards from competitions on their beers, effective marketing in Brazil I suppose. Extremely dark brown black, vanishing small mocha head, lightly herbal. Nose is overly heavy from umami & fish guts notes with light liquorish, anise & charcoal,.... + lingering heavily roasted finish, not my style. Taste luckily carries some cinnamon flavor which I presume is from the Amburana barrel which strikes me as quite pleasant, unfortunately I like the base beer less which carries notes of fish guts, liquorish, bitter herbal, umami, faint charcoal,… The barrel aging covers some of that but not enough. Beer is also a bit too effervescent due too high carbonation. Judging by the meager 2 examples I have had so far, I really dig Amburana aging which carries a delicious cinnamon note, possibly the two tree are related. Apparently the tree which seems to have 2 different species is endangered due to habitat loss. A real whale I suppose, some quickly age something American & hyped on this before it gets extinct! -> Upping the score to 3.5 from 3.2 due to the fresher version.
