Commercial Description:
The 3MONTS beer : A wonderful return to nature, with its flavour of yesteryear, this is a beer that was drawn from the wooden metal-circled barrels to fill so many mugs in our Flanders bars! Its bitterness comes from our hop fields scattered throughout the region. Brewed by infusions, it is an old-fashioned rising beer made with strong and hearty Flemish hops. Fermented using top yeasts, like the barrel brewers of yore and clamped like bonderised barrels.

Bright golden, small bubbling throughout, huge soft billowy snow-white head, gorgeous. Aroma a mix of farmy-sour and caramel-sweet, little fruit, hint of something like 7up? Strange but lovely. Very yeasty, soft velvet mouthfeel, God I love the way these beers go down! Good sweet malt/sour yeasty mix, not a lot of hoppiness, very warming. Excellent bier de garde, but something for me separates it from the best example I've had, La Bavaisienne. I need more, more!

Bottle from Capone’s. Pours hazy gold with 3-finger, fluffy off-white head. Nose is dry florals, rock sugary malt, and hopcitrus. Tastes floral, on the dry side, with some hopcitrus, earthy yeasty, and estery notes. Medium, well carbonated palate.

750mL bottle from a trade with a friend in Ottawa. This is a style I’m really interested in right now, so I’ll pretty much take any examples of it to try. This one pours a very pale gold with a large white head. The aroma is not as funky as I was hoping, but it’s still intriguing. Alcohol, with nice straw-like malts and some nice Earthy hop presence, and the mildest hints of funk. The taste is more of the same, with a nice fuller feel from the ABV. Some sourish corn, but it actually seems intended and isn’t as gross as you might think. The alcohol is definitely there, but not at all cloying. Nicely hopped, a touch of pepper, and with a generally woody touch to it which is quite nice. Mild yeast component and tinny flavour to the finish as well. Very good IMO, but just not enough funkyness to it to really make it a standout. Probably a bang on blonde Biere de Garde.

Bottled. A bright orange/gold coloured beer with a bright white head. The aroma is slightly spicy with grassy hops and yeasty notes. The taste is spicy, peppery hops. A bit of funk and good yeastiness. Pretty good.
