COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
3 Ravens Ale Noir is a truly unique and intriguing beer. A small volume our renowned Dark (smoke) beer takes up residence in a French oak wine cask that previously held Pinot Noir from the Geelong Region resulting in a beer of enormous depth and complexity. The aroma phenolic harmony of smoke oak and earthy Pinot leads to a palate of sweet malt integrate with subtle Pinot character and underpinning peat. Oak and balancing acidity emerge at the end of the palate to a vivid long dry finish. This remarkable union of grain and grape is complimented by moderate carbonation and served around 10 c. We here at 3 Ravens are sure its consumption will be just as enjoyable as was its production. Engineered by hand this beer is the product of a craft brewing process in which traditional methods meet exacting standards. We take care to emphasise quality over quantity and to use only the finest natural ingredients.

Draught at the Taphouse in Sydney. Pours a dark reddish brown with an offwhite head. Smells of smoke, andalt, with some pleasant vinous notes. Tastes of a medium sweetness, a medium bitter, lots of smoke, and red wine. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, oily texture. Pleasant.

Another beer for the winter BBQ session which would be easily interchangable with an actual glass of red. Nice dark slightly ruby colour. Had to go searching for the pino noir but it did become steadily apparant as the beer warmed slightly. Nice smokey flavour carries the beer through

UPDATED: APR 9, 2012 On tap at the local taphouse. Excellent malt-driven beer. Aromas of caramel, chocolate, cola, with hints of smoke and liquorice. Taste is sweet, with bitter notes, and average length. Palate is creamy, with a medium body. Dark brown, with a thin head.

Bottle. Pours a very dark mahogany with smallish tan coloured head. Aromas of smoke and raosted sweet malts. Some oak character does comes through but this is very minimal. Flavour wise is pretty similar. Smoke and sweet malt up front and some bitterness on the finish thanks to roasted grain. Didn’t really get much of the wine character coming through. I found the mouthfeel a little thin which took away from the beer for me. Interesting beer.
