This is, in fact, a wheat beer. Beneath its rich, dark exterior and cascading head, you will find a classic unfiltered wheat presentation fused with the smooth, roasty, chocolate-like characteristics of the dark wheat malt. With a finish this unnervingly smooth, even a black sheep starts to feel normal again.

On tap at Hopleaf. Pours a very dark brown colour with a small off white head. Aroma has a little coffee in it, roasted wheat malts and chocolate. Taste is moderately sweet and malty throughout, though it’s a little lighter due to the wheat malt. Light to medium body, thinner on the palate, and softer carbonation. Overall a unique and enjoyable and brew.

Bottle. Poured dark brown to black with tan head. Very rich in flavor. More hazelnut than chocolate and very smooth. Pretty active in terms of carbonation and mouthfeel. Not sure if I want it to be darker or not ... it works as is.

Taster. Nice looking hazy-brown/orange look with small white head. Aroma of banana, wheat, and other grains. Taste is sweet, wheaty with some fruit (especially banana).

3/1 - Bottle. Very smooth beer with an easy pourand very light texture. Very dark coloured beer with a malty head. Smell is coffee and chocolate, not very strong. Went down like an iced coffee. Very smooth and light, with a coffee aftertaste. Good beer.

Bottle poured a clear dark reddish brown with a lasting tan head. Aromas of cocoa, wheat, roastiness and light coffee. Palate was medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of cocoa, roastiness, wheat and light vanilla with a smooth lingering cocoa finish.

Bottle. Roasted malts, very slight clove, and some other shenanigans come out in the aroma. Dig the name. No, Jeremy, I am not satanic, just a tad bit evil.

12 oz. bottle pours an opaque black with small tan head and a few spots of lacing. Aroma is not strong, but has chocolate, roasted malts, and hints of coffee and smoke. Taste is on the bitter side. Body is light to medium with average carbonation and a crisp mouthfeel. I’m surprised that this is a wheat beer. If it had no label, I would have called this a porter. Nothing too complex, but nothing baaad either.

12 oz bottle courtesy of shrubber85. Thin white head on black liquid. Aroma has light smoke, chocolate and underlying malted wheat.

Flavor of dark roasted grain, chocolate notes, sweet body with a mild tone of smoke. Body is medium with a abrupt finish. Drinkable, no problems but I feel like it doesn’t know want style it wants to be. Still worth a try.

Bottle. Pours deep dark mahogany, small tan head, dissipates fairly quickly leaving decent residual and good lacing. Aroma is roasty, ashtray, a bit smokey, wheat. Flavor is medium sweet, just a bit of bitterness, fairly low acidity, rich roasty flavor, toasted dark bread, a bit of tobacco. Medium body, silky mouthfeel. Very good.
