3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
So far their best beer. Served kind of cold with a small creamy, off-white head, and lots of sheeting lace. Color is a darker, clear amber with some bubble trails. Aroma is hop, resin, a little citrus and malt. Flavorís like nose; dry at first with hop up front, then carbonic tang, ending with sweet; however, strangely not balanced. Finish is like flavor, average length, a bit boozy.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
12 oz. bottle. Pours amber copper with a tight frothy off white head that settles to a thin film and lacing. Aroma is sweet caramel malts soft spice also soft pine spruce. Taste is stale bitter hops with plenty of sweet caramel malt hops are stale like I said and show some pine spruce notes with a big spice finish. Palate is medium chalky and little dry. Will need to revisit this one.

4.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
An impressive IPA! A really complex palate of hops and fruits and a variety of flavors: starts hoppy strong and finishes fruity hoppy. Looks great too. The aroma smells just a little too much of a stale bar bathroom.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Flight at HopCat in Madison. Clear orange/amber. Was very earthy which made the hops more rich in flavor. There wasnít much of a bite, which is nice. Iím not an IPA person, but this was very fresh -- a sweet citrus -- still with hops flavor, but not overwhelming.

Sampled from the tap at the St. Paul Summer Beer Fest. Pours a clear orangish amber with a tan head that lasts throughout the beer. Aroma is resinous with musty grain and some earthy grass. Flavor has musty and earthy grains with a bit of bitter citrus and a touch of sweetness.

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Dark orange in appearance. Big hop nose of citrus and floral notes. Hops hit you right up front with a similar profile to the nose, pleasant bitterness throughout, but smooth finish with a sweetish malt backbone.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
This beer pours a hazy dark orange with a medium off-white head that fades slowly. The aroma has a strong caramel malt backbone, but there is an undeniable amount of floral, spruce, and resin hops. The taste is slightly bitter, slightly sour, and a touch sweet with a finish that has some grassy flavor to it. The palate has a sticky texture, medium-full body, and a soft carbonation, bit these elements donít really work together.

Pour on tap at Red Cow, hazy orange pour with white head, aroma brought notes of orange, grapefruit, some caramel, toffee into some slight grass. Taste was a mix of grass, orange, grapefruit into some bread, slight cracker, finishing bitter, slightly dry.

2/5 Finley Dunnes Draft - 2/5 - Draft at Finley Dunnes (Chicago Lakeview). 3 Sheeps has been served at Finley Dunnes the past few months, and I am really glad itís a standard serving. The beer is very smooth and refreshing to drink. Loved the somewhat bitter taste.
I look forward to finding other 3 Sheep offerings down the road, and will continue to order this IPA when available.
