We decided to rebel against the status quo when we created our amber. We took a Belgian Abbey Single, upped the ABV, added some rye malt, and created a complex, yet very easy drinking, ale. Grab a sample and let us know what you think.

Aroma faintly peppery, followed by a faint banana. Pours red tinged gold. Pale head, subsides quickly. Starts creamy, slightly sweet on the tongue, finishes with dry rye. Medium-light body, flirts with being watery. Overall very drinkable. Calls itself an Amber Ale, but is classified as a Belgian Ale - not sure it fully fits in either.

2/26 (Bottle) - Decent pour, smelled of toffee and caramel. Poured light, reddish brown coloured with a short tan head. Taste was light, not much texture, and easy going down. Good light tasting beer for a meal.

[Tap] Dull amber color with a soapy white head on top. Notes of toffee, sweet breads and molasses in the nose. Flavors are pretty sweet and grainy. More toffee, residual sugars, light yeast notes and bready flavors. Kind of one-dimensional. Tasting notes from Big Blue Craft Beer Festival in Sheboygan on 10/18/14.

Bottle. Seems very thin and watery. Flavor is sweet, toffee, with a pleasant carbonation and smoothness. Was expecting something different. Not bad, and certainly got better after the first taste, but still a little weak all-around.

Bottle. Slightly murky orange-amber pour with a small soapy head. Nice aroma of Belgian yeast and toffee. Comes off a little simple / artificial / thin on the tongue though - not bad, just not terribly good either.

Aromas of sweet breads, sweet candy, and a hint of plum. Amber orange in color, white head is thin. Sweet malt hits you first. Sweet candied fruit is next. Bitterness is dry and one dimensional. Mouthfeel is watery, and finsihes with an even bitterness. Interesting style...average beer.

UPDATED: FEB 17, 2014 Bottle to shaker. Certainty not what I was expecting from the description, although to be fair i wasn?t sure what to expect. Copper orange pour. Creamy head. Clean and clear. Typical American amber profile with just a bit more bitterness. Nice.
