Intriguing mix of flavors for a saison. The basil is aparent in the aroma and th lime comes through on the palate, Not your typical saison.

4oz sample at Churchkey’s 3 Stars 1st Anniversary event. Cask pours a translucent gold with some filmy, white head. Big lime nose, basil, tarragon, anise, coconut, green peppercorn. Flavor is lightly malty, peppery, green bell pepper, citrus, anise, some tarragon. All flavors are well balanced. Lightly chalky, peppery finish. Refreshing and unique.

Tap at Meridian Pint. Pours extremely muddy dark yellow like yeast dreg. No head. No carbonation. Nose is heavy lemongrass and ginger. Taste is the same. Very chemical lemongrass heavy to the extreme. Palate is paper and water. Another dud from 3 Stars. Wasn’t liked any of the people I was with- toilet cleaner. Almost bland in body after a quick rush of lemongrass.

Had this at RFD after the Snallygaster Beer Fest in Washington DC. Poured a cloudy, hazy yellow color with a solid white head. Aroma was certainly basil, with plenty of notes of sweet grains and some citrus tartness there. Lemon is there in the flavor, surrounded by notes of basil, yeast notes.

Tap. Slight head that’s white on a milky murky bright yellow orange...looks like juice in a glass. Lots of savory basil in the aroma, spicy, earthy, and slight yeastiness. Basil is he clear flavor, some very faint citrus zest, and a touch yeasty. Lighter to medium soft silky body.

UPDATED: JUL 28, 2013 Draft at the source. Hazy golden amber color, small white head. Aroma of lime, lemon, straw. Taste is bright citrus, tangy edge, raw white bread dough. Basil is there, but subtle enough. Very easy to drink. Batch #2, draft at the source. This is a brand new recipe, and might be a new entry. Hazy yellow color, large white head, solid lacing. Aroma of subtle herb, subtle lemon. Taste is lime with a bitter and herbal edge. Delicious.
