grain bill: 2 Row, Wheat, Chocolate Malt, Crystal, Rolled Oats & Black Patent Malt hops: Tettnanger and Willamette, cold steeped espresso added during secondary fermentation flavor profile: Huge roasted malt and coffee nose, lots of chocolate and roasted malt flavors up front, finishes smooth with strong coffee flavors and slight hints of alcohol. Lingering chocolate and coffee flavors, with smooth malt sweetness. food pairing: This beer can be paired with many different foods; best with big flavors like game, salmon, roasts and BBQ. Also works very well paired with desserts like crème brulee, gelato, and chocolate cake.

Deep cola-brown beer with a dark beige head that subsides quickly with an audible crackle. Rich nose of semi-sweet chocolate, balsamic vinegar, and soy sauce. Flavor follows the nose with some coffee and quite a bit more malty sweetness. This all ends with a slight bitterness. There’s quite a bit going on here; I just wish more of the roast followed through to the finish to counterbalance the sweetness. Still, a pretty good porter.

This beer is almost firing on all cylinders, except for a flat appearance, pouring out like an oil slick. Slick, slippery body, aroma carries some wine like essences, along with some molasses and soy sauce. Alcohol warmth right up front, woody, sweet taste. Medium sweet finish.

4 oz draft at Spacebar. Black with light tan head. Aromas of vanilla, dark fruit, dark chocolate, caramel. Tastes of chocolate, coffee, booze, dark fruit, a little cola. Medium body with a dry and syrupy finish. The booze kind of masks the other flavors and holds the beer back a bit for me.

Pours darkest brown with a faint tan head. Aroma is Tollhouse cookies, ink, port, alcohol. Flavor is dark chocolate, coffee beans, slight meaty smoke. Pretty thin, airy body, could use some heft.

This is a very unique porter without the traditional sour grainy flavor and palate. It has a very pleasant appearance with a dark chocolate color. The taste is sweet with strong coffee, citrus and vanilla aroma. The palate is very crisp and creamy. A very unique porter that you should try if you happen to be in the DC area.
