3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 Travlr (5359) - Washington, USA - MAY 31, 2011
Draught at Churchkey. Cloudy golden color, small white head, great lacing. Aroma of lemon peel, straw, white pepper. Taste has hay, pepper up front, with a bitter and peppery finish. Oh, and a bit of pepper! Not a bad start for 3 Stars, welcome to the scene!

Pours hazy amber with a white sustained head. Smells of bananas, coriander, grainy, syruppy. Tastes sweet and grassy with some cheesy undertones on the finish.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 jcos (673) - Maryland, USA - JUN 6, 2011
Draft at Scion after "Battle of the Brews", Allagash vs. Uinta at Scion in DC June 1st. A solid saison, would like to tast again. A little thick in the palate. Grassy in taste. Will rerate soon.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 nimbleprop (2224) - SouthWest, Washington, Washington DC, USA - JUN 6, 2011
10oz tulip at RFD DC. Pours a hazy orange with a thin, white head. Nose is yeasty, cloves, banana, light bread. Flavor has too much candy sugar, fruity, tropical fruits, cloves, bananas. Where are the peppercorns? Chalky finish. Just too sweet, too much candy sugar for the style.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 radagast83 (2399) - Fairfax, Virginia, USA - JUN 4, 2011
Draft at RFD’s. Came in a flute, dark golden color. Aroma was spice notes, pepper, wheat. Flavor was pretty enjoyable. Sweet, but not overpowering nor too sugary. Relatively easy to drink.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 NachlamSie (2134) - Tennessee, USA - JUN 3, 2011
On tap into a flute at RFD’s. What a good brew and with finesse not usually found in American saisons. The aroma is a little sweet with some bubblegum but also lots of cheese, grass and wood. The pepper is more prominent in the flavor doing the work hops usually would but in a spicy way that is a welcome departure from the norm. It’s sweet, but not too much so. It maintains a cheesiness (as in the literal flavor) and remains highly enjoyable for the duration of the glass.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 tastybeer (1045) - Washington DC, USA - JUN 2, 2011
Draft. Pours gold with a nice white head. Aroma of hay, bubblegum, grassy hops. Taste has some pepper, more bubblegum, and a very mild grassy hop presence. Palate is clean, slightly bitter. Pretty respectable saison.
2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 GT2 (3942) - Washington DC, USA - JUN 2, 2011
Tap at Paradiso Dupont for the sponsored launch. DC’s new local beer! (from Delaware). The pour is a cloudy gold to bright yellow with a diminishing white head. No lace. Nose is pretty straightforward hefeweizen yeast with big phenols (cloves, banana) along with pear and cinnamon apple. Taste is dry and bitter like eating apple skins. Not really dry, fresh, sharp, or hoppy. More fruity, lots of apples and mild pear, with a very chalky mouthfeel riveted by heavy carbonation. Comes across as no clear style...perhaps English bitter with weizen yeast.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 dbarnold (674) - Bethesda, Maryland, USA - JUN 1, 2011
I thought this was pretty good, which is nice because it’s another local craft brewery.
Draft at Scion in Dupont Circle. Very smooth, a little thick for a Saison but very tasty. Wasn’t a bad thing, just different. Grassy and very summery, with a bit of a sweet smell. Finshes just slightly bitter and clean. Very enjoyable.
