UPDATED: JUL 12, 2006 Vietnamese version rated (5.3% abv), found at BCL (and soon to be a standard at every pho’ shop in East Van). Bright straw colour. Understated grainy aroma. Some light continental hop and pale malt character. Fairly crisp and dry for a macro lager. Clean. Hmmm...balanced, no off-flavours, does have a bit of bitterness, hop & malt flavours...you know what. It’s a perfectly drinkable example of a style that is seldom perfectly drinkable. Rock on.

It’s got the crappy eerie sweetness that a lot of cheap lagers have. Nothing is really good about this. I kinda wish I’d skipped it.

Got this at a local Vietnamese restaurant. Poured into glass from brown bottle, typical light lager look. Aroma mostly of grains, some malt and very faint fragrance maybe. Taste was nothing special, light with a sweet finish.

Bottle. Pours pale straw yellow with a small, fizzy white head, short retention with light lacing. Aroma is straw and meal malt, light hops and a clean lager character. Flavor is malt dominant with light adjuncts and a sweet finish. Light body, warmth, and carbonation.

500 ml bottle in Dakar, Senegal. A pretty poor Pale Lager and an even worse beer in general. Corn, chemicals and water.

"33" Export has a medium, stark-white head and a clear, golden appearance, with lots of lacing and little fine particles floating about. The aroma is of toasted barley and subtle spice. Taste is of toasted barley malt, grain, sweetness, and a light hop bitterness. Mouthfeel is watery and relatively thin, and "33" Export finishes crisp, refreshing, and easy drinking. This is a very good lager. RJT
