2.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
On tap at the Iron Hill Belgium Comes to West Chester event. The pour yields a very light colored beer. Lighter than straw and more along the lines of a Berliner. A bit of a head without too much retention. The nose and flavor have a touch of spice and breadiness, but are otherwise quite watery. Body is very light. Somewhat dry. Not a big fan.

Slightly weird label - sandsurfers? Tawny pour with a fast-dropping head. It is a pretty sweet, tropical tripel. Cantaloupe and peach notes, balanced by some sharpness and warmth. This is a good one.

Lightly hazy straw colored body, thin white head, minimal lacing. Cheap champagne, stone fruits, wet hay, and yeasty esters and spice. Medium bodied, a healthy dose of sweetness, moderate to lively carbonation, muddled finish.

Sampled at AOT Wilmington. Lighter aroma but balanced of watermelon and darker fruits, malt, spices and funk. Good alcohol retention. Good stuff here from a small but local brewery. They are now on my map.

3rd Wave Sandstorm
Style: Belgian Tripel Ale
Appearance: Yellow/ Gold or Straw color
Nose: I picked up hay, banana, spices, bubble gum & a slight fruity ester.
Palate: Sweet at the beginning and finishes dry & complex on the palate. The dryness does linger a bit. Definite flavors of clove, banana, pepper, cardamom, vanilla, rum & bubble gum.
Pairs well with:Sausage, Chicken, Pasta and foods spiced with herbs( no brainer).A nice soft goat cheese or a sheep cheese.
Overall: a solid Belgian Tripel from 3rd Wave.
3rd wave stepped out of their comfort zone & created a solid Tripel. This beer is currently available on draft only. If you see it on a draft list. Do yourself a favor and treat yourself to a beer.

Excellent beer. 8.5% but does not drink like a strong beer. Not an overbearing flavor but easy to drink
