COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is one monster of a Brown Ale! We used an obnoxious amount of chocolate malt and roasted barley to give this beer a cast iron backbone. Our Oatmeal Brown pours a dark mahogany with aromas of dark chocolate and coffee.

Draft at 4 Hands in a sampler tray. Pours a clear amber-brown color with a small, resilient off-white head. Aroma of toasty and chocolate malts, nuts, grains (from the oats, presumably), brown sugar, and some earthy hops. The flavor also showed those subtle earthy hops underneath a wide range of malts, toasty, sweet, and chocolaty, with faint coffee. Light-medium bodied, with a toasty mouthfeel and medium soft carbonation. Very good brown ale.

Shared draft at the brewpub. Yes, it’s brown, but has a definite reddish tinge, too. The aroma is of a nice chocolate malt. This drinks with a decidedly roasty base, ashy at the very finish. Carries with a little bit of a burnt edge. (#4505, 2/25/2012)

On tap at the brewery over X-Mas. Translucent mahogany and brown with an off-white head. Chewy malt flavor and great bitterness through. Lots of roast and some chocolate as well.

Sampler at the brewpub. It poured a dark brown color with a nice off-white head. The aroma was of roasted malt, some caramelized sugar, and a little chocolate. The flavor was of roasted malt, some coffee and hints of caramelized sugar. This was a very good Brown Ale.

Tap at brewpub. Pour is a clear deep brown with a medium frothy white head. Aroma is lightly roasted malt, a touch of caramelized sugar, and a hint of dry chocolate. Flavor is pure with notes of roasted malt, light coffee, and a clean roasty finish with hints of caramelized sugar throughout. Very solid offering.
