This is one monster of a Brown Ale! We used an obnoxious amount of chocolate malt and roasted barley to give this beer a cast iron backbone. Our Oatmeal Brown pours a dark mahogany with aromas of dark chocolate and coffee.

On tap, poured into a shaker. The aromas are a blend of oatmeal cookies with chocolate chips, cookie batter, coffee, and a dark, woody spiciness (cloves come to mind). It pours a clear, oily red-brown with just a thin tan ring retained and no lace. The taste is medium sweet and bitter. The beer is somewhere in between watery and oily with a fuzzy carbonation. The medium body starts sweet with chocolate and oatmeal cookie notes, then finishes with a dry clove and coffee finish (as well as maybe a touch of ash) that lingers lightly and feels clean on the palate.

Classic brown ale oatmeal smell. A little metallic. Taste: wow! Bread, nuts, semisweet chocolate, slight bitterness. Lively carb. Tasty stuff; one of the top brown ales Iíve had for sure.

This pours (from a can) a dark chestnut body with a tan film in lieu of a head. Itís got a light aroma, faint chocolate scents, grain, maybe some oatmeal. The flavor is more chocolatey, has some cookie dough, and has traces of oatmeal. Certainly it has the oaty smootyhness. Okay, but just not a drink that excites me.

12 oz. can from WillRunForBeer - many thanks! To white wine glass, it pours a rose-tinted Coke light brown with which an off-white head half a finger in length. Aromas of toasted oats, Munich malt, DME, graham crackers, roasted peanuts, and Starbucks cappuccino. Tastes the same with the addition of sour grass, tin, and spent grain. The coffee, for me, was more like coffee beans dunked in a brown ale or dunkel than an actual brewed cup of joe: oily and slightly acidic. Bitter coffee bean flavor experienced at swallow (and mostly throughout consumption.) The hops could best be described as English nobles, and I didnít care for them all that much. Interesting.

Can gifted by AirForceHops, thanks! Pours medium brown with a scant off white head. Aroma is caramel, raisin, coffee. This is a little thin, but has a nice chocolate flavor. Some coffee bitterness to balance, but this still ends a touch sweet.

Very dark brown, reddish hues, a thin white head. smells like a standard brown ale but with some creamy oak. Really nice mouthfeel, creamy, malty with some english hop bitterness.

This beer is an interesting ale. Its smoky earthy and hoppy at a perfect balance. This is one of my favorite beers.

12 oz. can From Binnyís Lincoln Park. Standard brown color with thin fizzy head. Aroma is oak flakes and nutty roasted tones, sugar. Smells hearty.

The aroma got me excited. Flavor is good, roasted chestnuts, caramelized sugar /malts and some very faint chocolate. The flavor is good but was hoping that the oats would provide a more robust body. This body is on the lean side. Enjoyable and I finished the can very easily.

Bottle at Thanksgiving, thanks to Kristin for selecting. Sweet caramelly, with oatmeal and light nut. A tasty brown. 13.9
