COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is one monster of a Brown Ale! We used an obnoxious amount of chocolate malt and roasted barley to give this beer a cast iron backbone. Our Oatmeal Brown pours a dark mahogany with aromas of dark chocolate and coffee.

[Tap] Deep brown color with a rocky light brown head. Nose is of cocoa powder, light smoke and oats. Roasted malts impart chocolate, mocha, hazelnut and bitter grainy notes in the taste. Light sweet oatmeal notes as well. Lingering earthy hoppiness and hints of ash.

Serviceable brown ale. Lots of chocolate, to be sure, but also a nice plum/prune/peach fruit. Coffee on the finish lifts the beer up with a little bit of astringency.

Purchased at Bottles and Cans in Chicago, IL; enjoyed after a productive day while watching baseball. Appearance is dark brown with a thin white head that rims around the glass, looks like a nutty oatmeal porter. Aroma of chocolate malt, hazelnut, light carbonation, smell is nice. Taste is pretty good, definitely can taste the nutty elements and is candy bar like without being too sweet. Pretty good stuff.

Absolutely SPECTACULAR!!! Yet another delicious brew from the masters at 4 Hands! This brew is dark chocolate in color with a small tan head. The aroma as well as the taste are of coffee. This is not too bitter and not too incredibly carbonated. Drinks very smooth and pleasant on the tongue.

Bottle. Deep mahogany with a large tan head. Sweet chocolate and earthy oat aroma. Light chocolate, roasty malt, and earthy oat flavor with a light bitter finish. Medium creamy body, moderate carbonation. Very much like a porter, as opposed to a brown ale. Very nice.

A fine brown with some complexity like the advertised Choco hint. Certainly not bad but wish it was a little creamier and a little more body... ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Dark brown, lasting head. Smell is coffee and caramel. Flavor is peat, cocoa, coffee. Very nicely balanced, prickly carbonation as opposed to slick in an oatmeal stout.

I think this is more along the lines of a porter than a brown ale but itís all good. It is reddish brown in color and clear from what I can tell. Itís a nice color but this doesnít really have much of head so itís really not all that appealing overall. The nose is nice and roasty, however, so that more than makes up for the lack of head. This is a rather dry beer and quite drinkable, my only small complaint is it is a bit ashy in the finish. Pretty good brown ale or porter, whatever it is.

Pours a somewhat dark, though not opaque with a thinner short lived light tan head. The aroma contains mostly roasted malts and coffee. Additionally, there are chocolate and nuts. The taste is still quite roasted that is balanced with chocolate. Hints of coffee are found as well. There isnít really all that much of an aftertaste, although I do get just a slight chocolate. Medium in body with a smooth texture, while having average carbonation. Not bad overall.

On tap. Served a dark brown with a thick head and nice lacing. Aroma of roasted malt, dark chocolate, nutty, with coffee and a bit earthy. taste of roasted malt, dark chocolate, touch of coffee and nuts. Mild bitterness and a clean finish. A good medium body, smooth and creamy feel. Enjoyable beer.
