3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Shared draft at the brewpub. Yes, itís brown, but has a definite reddish tinge, too. The aroma is of a nice chocolate malt. This drinks with a decidedly roasty base, ashy at the very finish. Carries with a little bit of a burnt edge. (#4505, 2/25/2012)

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draft at 4 Hands in a sampler tray. Pours a clear amber-brown color with a small, resilient off-white head. Aroma of toasty and chocolate malts, nuts, grains (from the oats, presumably), brown sugar, and some earthy hops. The flavor also showed those subtle earthy hops underneath a wide range of malts, toasty, sweet, and chocolaty, with faint coffee. Light-medium bodied, with a toasty mouthfeel and medium soft carbonation. Very good brown ale.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bomber. Deep brown, nearly black body with traces of garnet at the edges when held to light. A very dense and long lasting light tanned leather hued head is a nice contrast. The nose is rich milk chocolate with notes of cereal grains. Touches of leather and cherries are also present. This tastes of milk chocolate and apple core up front. The back end is ashy with tobacco and some old library book flavors. This one smells better than it tastes. The carbonation is a little sharp on the tongue. This was an ok brown with some porter like qualities.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Tap at the brewery. This pours red brown and is very opaque. A beige blotchy head. Was told this keg had been tapped a few hours ago. I smell nutty chocolate and that is tasted, too. Roasted notes and brewers grain. Hops are light as is bitterness. Sweetness is very moderate. An earthy finish. Nice.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours darker brown that most brown ales and has a beige head. The aroma has heavy toast, cocoa, cola, moderate sweetness and hazelnuts. It has a medium body thatís on the smooth side, but gets a bit sharper on the finish due to carbonation, but is still gentle. The flavor begins with more bitterness than most brown ales with big roast/toast, coffee and spicy/earthy hops. The finish has more hoppiness, coffee bitterness and a lingering astringency. Pretty nice, but seems somewhere in between a brown ale and stout.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
This was sent to me by strykzone. Thanks Dave. From the 22-oz bottle pours dark brown with a big foam beige head and lots of lacing. Nose of chocolate and nuts. Medium plus body. Smooth creamy mouthfeel. Flavor is rich and full of roasted malts floral hops. Very tasty.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Draft at Baileyís range. Pours dark brown with 1/2 an inch of khaki foam. Sligh nutty note on the nose. Lots of brown malt on the tongue with a bit of roast to it. Finishes clean. Solid but not spectacular.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pour is a dark brown with a nice tan head. Aroma is a nice roated malt, some chocolate and nutty. Flavor is a nice roasted but sweet malt. Some chocolate and fresh earthy hops make an appearance. A nice brown ale with the oatmeal making this above par.
