3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Poured from a 2013 vintage bottle. Aroma is rather fruity with a moderately strong raspberry and lighter blackberry note. Some light acidity with a bit of lemon and other citrus. Medium light oak notes and tannins with some light red wine character. A hint of tropical fruit and barnyard funk. Pours a hazy, murky, reddish copper color with a small, fairly thin, slightly off white head that recedes to a thin film on the edges that lingers for a bit. Low lacing and small legs. Flavor has a medium light tartness with some light citrus notes. Medium light raspberry and blackberry notes, less than in the aroma. Some medium light oak notes with some grape skin must. Medium bitterness. Some medium oak and grape skin tannins in the finish that linger and are a bit astringent. Finishes very dry. Hints of barnyard funk. Mouthfeel is medium light bodied with medium carbonation and finishes a bit watery. Medium astringency from the tannins and light alcohol warmth. Overall, a nice aroma but the flavor is not as good. The tannins are too astringent and the finish is flat and watery. Nice berry notes in the aroma but that have faded out of the flavor leaving more oak and red wine notes. Good balance of acidity though.

Making my way to the 4 Hands table I was faced with a choice about which beer to try. Settling for this refreshing sour was a decision I do not regret. A balanced experience that shows expertise in knowing when to draw the line on intensity it offers a nice depth.
Aroma / Appearance - A reddish fluid base moves easily around the glass. Sour cherries soaked in vinegar render this a prototypical American sour in the vein of the various New Glarus releases or La Folie.
Flavor / Palate - Sour cherries open with a delayed acidity that works through the layers of previous samples like scrubbing bubbles. By the end the taste is a nice balance of fruitiness and tartness. The only thing that might keep me from drinking an entire 750ml bottle alone is the acidity. This merits purchasing if you come across a bottle in the Midwest.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pour from bottle. Murky rusty amber color, with an off white head. Berries, tartness, a bit funky, oak, notes of butter, dusty malt, and lots of barrel character. Not bad.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Shared 750 ml. bottle poured to snifters, showing a hazed, deep orange color, with some off white/light tan froth to a head that reduced to film and a persistent ring, leaving some wavy lacing on the glass. The nose was yeasty funk, tropical hints, citrus as orange, berry tartness, with a touch of brown sugar sweetness. The taste was similar notes with less expression, some barrel influencing/tannic astringency, vinous nature, dryness, with continued tartness. Intensity lessened into the finish, but I still found it quite tasty, and a very approachable Sour.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours cloudy orange with low white head. Aroma of fruit, lots of it. bretta, sugar, light cherry, light redcurrant, vanilla and raspberries. Taste is big fruit tart, with a mellow vinous and almost sweet finish. Body is light and crisp with a soft smoothness that evens it out nicely.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours more amber orange, not the expected pink, with a sandy white head. Aroma brings beautiful sweet berries so refreshing and lightly sweet and spritzy in the nose, with hint of wild yeast. The flavor brings berries and wild yeast mixed well and balanced with the red wine base so prevalent on the tongue.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
750 ml bottle shared by thomas15. The pour is cloudy golden with a hint of ruby and a smallish egg white head. The aroma is fruit, berry and white grape, oak barrel along with funk and some butter. The taste matches the nose, fruit of the berry and white wine, the oak barrel woodiness and funk and a bit of a nearly off butter taste way in the back. It’s not diacetyl, more of a Chardonnay character. The palate is medium bodied, slick carbonation and wood earth funk finish. Fun stuff, thanks for sharing Thomas.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle from the bridge. Pours golden with a white head. Definite wine barrel influence on the nose as well as the sour notes. The Brett is there on the tongue with a bit of a red wine thang. Finish lingers a bit. Solid domestic sour.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
sample at EBF, Jea! BACKSTEAB! All jokes aside this is my type of beer. The barrel aging adds a nice light spicey complextiy to the sweetness of the berries. That is all belended together with a great light tartness. Awesome stuff.
