To commemorate our first anniversary, we decided to brew two delicious to celebrate. Home, a double red, is our non-barrel aged version. Home pours dark crimson in color with aromas of caramel, stone fruit, and toffee.

Pours a dark clear ruby with one finger head leaving moderte lacing . Strong malted caramel with a boozy edge . Moderately sweet and bitter with dome burnt sugar, almost trappist notes to it. Long bittersweet finish. This is an impressive beer.

Tap at 4 Hands duringan esbls tasting. This is very dark red brown with a small beige head that leaves sticky lacing. An astringent nose that is rich and malty. This is full of rich malts with a nice load of hops that are spicy and have a bit of a bite.

Pours reddish brown with a dense tan head. The aroma has dark roasted malt, cream, dark toffee, warming alcohol, berries, apple sweetness and syrup. Medium body with a bit of crispness and sharp micro carbonation. The flavor starts with berry sweetness, caramel malt, sweet toastiness and somehow there is a char-like character even though it doesn’t taste roasty. The finish is very sweet and malty.l Decent for the style.

It poured a hazy dark orange color with a small white head. The aroma was light fruity and malty. The taste was solid caramel malt flavor with a hoppy bitterness and downplayed fruity notes. It ended dry and yet somewhat with a malty finish. Very good.

Bottle, shared by phaleslu. Clear dark red color. Good thin khaki head. Good lace. Tropical fruity hop flavor, light spicy hop. Sweeter taste, light bitter, light bit of alcohol. Bigger body. Lighter carbonation. Lightly dry texture. Respectable double red ale.

22 oz. bottle via local STL trade. Pours a clear amber with virtually no head. Notes of caramel and amber malts, grass, straw, cereal, brown sugar, and a bit of fruit- maybe apple? Light-medium bodied, with moderate carbonation and a dry, malty mouthfeel. I’m not sure an imperial red ale is ever going to be my thing, but this one isn’t bad.

22 oz. bottle shared by phaleslu. Ppurs a clear deep amber color with a small beige head. The aroma and flavor have caramel, grass, some dark fruit, earthy, herbal notes, seems a bit disconnected. I was happy to try everything at the tasting and this could have suffered because of all the other big beers.
