3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle pours very dark brown with minimal head. Aroma vanilla, dark chocolate. Palate a bit on the thin side and undercarbed. Taste dark chocolate and somewhat bitter vanilla, a little coconut and oak. Not much bourbon at all. Finish mild dark chocolate. Underwhelmed given the hype.

Bottle: The aroma consists of moderate vanilla, chocolate, and bourbon. It’s a dark brown with some faint orange highlights and a small beige head that fades to a minimal film outlined by a thin ring. The flavor starts with moderate chocolate and caramel the finish has moderate vanilla, marshmallow, maple, and a touch of bourbon. It’s medium bodied with mild carbonation and a somewhat flat mouthfeel.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle thanks to Tim. Aroma is huge vanilla bean with light bourbon and mint. Tastes pretty minty to go with the big vanilla. Distracts big time. Good chocolate and roast but can’t get past the mint. No carb also.

Jet black pour with a wispy espresso colored head. Aroma of vanilla beans. Sweet bourbon aroma, man does it smell fantastic. Taste is sweet, lots of vanilla. Bourbon heat in the finish. Thin mouth. Lingering sweetness. Very tasty.

Sweet, bourbony aroma. Pours jet black. Bourbon taste hits you up front, mellowed a bit by the sweetness of the vanilla. Nice vanilla aftertaste. Complex. Tap.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Poured from a bottle.
Aroma is very vanilla forward with nice chocolate notes. Some light roast and hints of dark fruit, but this is full of vanilla. Hints of alcohol spice.
Pours black with a medium large, thick, light mocha head that recedes fairly quickly then lingers. Moderate lacing with medium small legs.
Flavor has moderate sweetness with nice chocolate notes, both chocolate and dark chocolate notes. Some light roast with moderately strong vanilla notes. Medium light bitterness. Light oak and bourbon notes. Lingering chocolate and vanilla with quite a bit of sweetness.
Mouthfeel is medium full bodied and silky with medium carbonation. Low astringency with medium low alcohol warmth.
Overall, a decent beer but it’s too one dimensional for me with so much vanilla. Not much bourbon or oak. Decent chocolate notes, but not much roast at all.

I had this at Global Brew. Pours black with a tan head. Taste bourbon, vanilla, chocolate. I thought this was ok, not a bourbon fan. I would not drink this again.

3.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Scraped, wet vanilla bean pulp stuffed right up your nose. Sugar cookies, slice-and-bake dough, French vanilla ice cream in a waffle cone. Sweet, maple-heavy bourbon swirls with notes of root beer in the background. Alcohol appears in the flavor in a big way, leading into brown sugar, raisin, cola notes. Vanilla is here, but is more subdued, an additive rather than the main ingredient. Flavor could use a little more rich bread/toast/roast malt depth. Could be a bit fuller in body. Some time in the cellar will do wonders, methinks.
