sample at brewery this was my favorite beer of the day of the 4 I tried Pours a slightly hazy brass amber with a clingy-lacing white head. Aroma of lightly sweet toasty pale malt and some grassy bittering hops with some tart light fruity character. Starts with an effervescent carbonation and lightly sweet toasty pale malts with some strawberry and guava tartness before a smooth, bittersweet grassy finish. A pretty unique and drinkable saison

Bomber from Wine & Cheese in Clayton, MO. Pours hazy gold with a creamy white head. Aroma is moderately earthy and peppery. Hint of citrus. Med body. Flavor is peppery, earthy, and has a bit of zest that pops up mostly in the finish. Struggling to find pear, but the other flavors are so zingy Iím not sure Iíve got it. This is a really tasty beer, and seems pretty much to style.

pours a clean golden yellow. light white thin fizzy head. light retention light pear combined with a fresh funk. hint of citrus hops. similar to nose, a well balanced pear to funk ratio. nothing over done here, just balance. white pepper and orange zest are very hidden. maybe a hint of burn in the finish. mild to moderate carbonation, clean but dry finish this was really good, better than prunus. i would and plan on drinking more of this. Pour is a hazy gold with a average white head. Aroma is citrus fruit with some pepper and banyard yeasty funk. Flavor is a very bitter citrus fruit with more of the funk and pepper. Could use a bit more of that funkyness but this is a very easy drinking saison with a citrus fruit hiding in the backround.

Enjoyed on-tap @ 4 Hands Brewing Company in St. Louis, MO for $6. Tapped from the Wooden Tap Handle into a 12oz Tulip Glass. Aroma- A malty, upfront aroma starts this one out. Light oranges and coriander. Hits the nose with minimal spices but more malt and citrus and fruit characters. Appearance- Received with a 1 finger, frothy head that has very average retention. Has a dark, golden body that is completely full of haze. Leaves a few suds behind. Flavor- Citrus, malt, and mild coriander comes out in this Saison. Effervescent and finishes semi-dry. Mouthfeel- Light Bodied, High Carbonation, Effervescent, and has a nice sour/funk note. Overall Impression- While 4 Hands will be a new spot to hang out and enjoy new beers, this one will be on my radar! A great example of the style and highly recommend if available on-tap here. I hope they think about bottling this guy!

It poured a cloudy yellow color with a white head. The aroma was lemony with hints of citrus, pepper, and a little barnyard funk. The taste was lemony with earthiness overtones. A very tasty Saison.

Tap. Pour is cloudy yellow with a thin white head. Aroma is quite spicy with notes of chamomile, citrus, black pepper, light lemon, and a touch of funk. Flavor is true to nose with lots of spice and black pepper with faint earthiness. Certainly more on the spicy and deep side of Samsonís as opposed to light and lemony. Still solid.

Shared draft at the brewpub. Light wheat coloring, moderately hazy but not opaque. Thereís a definite, yet mellow pear essence right up front, but this settles into a very nice, easy-to-drink beer. Very nice, full-flavored, yet light beer to drink on a hot day. (#4501, 2/25/2012)

Draft served in a tulip at the brewery. Pours a hazed yellow gold with a small eggshell white head that laces the glass. Aroma of farmhouse funk, bready malts, pear, citrus, straw, cereal, and some herbal notes. Flavor of sweet and bready malts, pear, lemongrass, funk, citrus, and faint pepper on the finish. Light-medium bodied, with medium carbonation and a bright, sweet mouthfeel. Very good.
