3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Enjoyed a draft at Basso’s in St Louis. A very solid effort by 4 Hand brewery. While saissons are not for everyone, those who like saissons will enjoy this. Much better than its class ranking.

4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Golden, thin head, fizzy. Dry, spicy finish. The pepper is complex and varied. The pear juice perhaps countered the pepper. A refreshing taste that faded as it warmed. A good starter and a good American version of the type.

Too dry, too peppery and acidic, not even remotely sweet or fruity - where was the pear?!

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
bomber from strykzone; very nice saison... yellow pour with fizzy head. easy to drink - it was hot today and no ac so perfect beer for the afternoon - yeast, citrus, slight tartness. No way I knew there was pear in there before reading the bottle, but it added a nice touch to the brew - less of a beer, but a good drink if that makes sense; slightly drying at end.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap at the Beer House Chicago in Lombard, IL. as a 5 oz. serving dispensed to a flight/fest glass, displaying a clear, light gold, almost straw color, with a modest layer of white head foam, and spots of lacing. The nose was lightly floral, subtle yeast & spice, with esters as pear, with some sweetness, and a bit of tartness. Light to medium bodied, with lively carbonation, the taste was similar notes, with a touch of orange zest showing up for the flavor, some dryness, but no noticeable hop bitterness. Quite flavorful & bright.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours a very clean golden/orange color with a modest low white head. Aroma has a strong pear nose, light citrus zing to it with just a touch of very light farmhouse funk at the finish. Flavor is sweet with pears, apples, white grapes coming through in the tasting early. This is followed up by a smooth spicy note. The deScription says pepper but I am not getting a peppery flavor more coriander-ish than pepper. Body is smooth with very fine carbonation providing a bit of a sharp tongue tickle. Overall a very good brew. Lots of flavor for a 6% beer.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Has a peppered citrus aroma and a malty citrus flavor with a slight sweet finish. Unusual with a very complex combination of Finish’s.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
22 oz. bottle purchased at Binny’s South Loop. Mostly hazy color gold thin retention in a snifter. Aroma is zesty spice / yeast with a light fruit note that doesn’t scream out pear but… yep, ok. More apple to me.
The flavor is herbal and zesty with the Belgian yeast notable but not overpowering by any sense. The fruit is like a pear apple hybrid that is grainy and juicy at the same time. Also, pretty sweet taste, baked bread and sugars. Its feels like it is a little forced as far as composition. A decent American version of the style but I would rather just reach for a true Belgian, that is of course if I could get more fresh ones here in the U.S. Overall still pretty well made.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Clear golden colour, white head. Malty aroma, pepper, white pepper, pear. Sweet malty flavour, pear. Finish pear, light pepper, light malts. Lots of pear. Not quite a saison in my book.
(From 65cL bottle @ the ’tick countries & enjoy some good beers’ tasting. Thanks for sharing, Tim!)
