3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 vyvvy (2877) - Florissant, USA - FEB 7, 2012
Sampled at Urban Chestnuts Wolpertinger - 1st anniversary - Pours hazy yellow with a white head. The aroma has some tartness, pears, mild saison graininess and earthiness. Medium grainy body with semi-soft carbonation. The flavor has lots of saison earthy funkiness, light pear, spice and earth. The finish is dry and earthy. Really nice saison.
3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 DConMan (22) - Ballwin, Missouri, USA - APR 13, 2012
Enjoyed on-tap @ 4 Hands Brewing Company in St. Louis, MO for $6. Tapped from the Wooden Tap Handle into a 12oz Tulip Glass.
Aroma- A malty, upfront aroma starts this one out. Light oranges and coriander. Hits the nose with minimal spices but more malt and citrus and fruit characters.
Appearance- Received with a 1 finger, frothy head that has very average retention. Has a dark, golden body that is completely full of haze. Leaves a few suds behind.
Flavor- Citrus, malt, and mild coriander comes out in this Saison. Effervescent and finishes semi-dry.
Mouthfeel- Light Bodied, High Carbonation, Effervescent, and has a nice sour/funk note.
Overall Impression- While 4 Hands will be a new spot to hang out and enjoy new beers, this one will be on my radar! A great example of the style and highly recommend if available on-tap here. I hope they think about bottling this guy!

It poured a cloudy yellow color with a white head. The aroma was lemony with hints of citrus, pepper, and a little barnyard funk. The taste was lemony with earthiness overtones. A very tasty Saison.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 beernbourbon (995) - St. Louis, Missouri, USA - APR 1, 2012
Tap. Pour is cloudy yellow with a thin white head. Aroma is quite spicy with notes of chamomile, citrus, black pepper, light lemon, and a touch of funk. Flavor is true to nose with lots of spice and black pepper with faint earthiness. Certainly more on the spicy and deep side of Samson’s as opposed to light and lemony. Still solid.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20 Braudog (4604) - Hampton, Virginia, USA - MAR 1, 2012
Shared draft at the brewpub. Light wheat coloring, moderately hazy but not opaque. There’s a definite, yet mellow pear essence right up front, but this settles into a very nice, easy-to-drink beer. Very nice, full-flavored, yet light beer to drink on a hot day. (#4501, 2/25/2012)
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 phaleslu (3530) - Saint Louis, Missouri, USA - FEB 16, 2012
Draft served in a tulip at the brewery. Pours a hazed yellow gold with a small eggshell white head that laces the glass. Aroma of farmhouse funk, bready malts, pear, citrus, straw, cereal, and some herbal notes. Flavor of sweet and bready malts, pear, lemongrass, funk, citrus, and faint pepper on the finish. Light-medium bodied, with medium carbonation and a bright, sweet mouthfeel. Very good.
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 seymour (782) - Saint Louis, Missouri, USA - FEB 4, 2012
Tasted at the 1st annual Urban Chestnut - Wolpertinger festival in St. Louis, MO, USA from tap into sampler beer boot. Poured a hazy golden color with huge, moussy white foam, lasting with excellent Belgian lace. Highly aromatic: earthy, flowery, citrusy hops with spicy saison yeast esters/phenols, apparently accentuated by actual citrus zest and pepper. Well-played 4 Hands. Flavors of mild malt, biscuits, crackers, refined tangy hops flavor, layers of yeast complexity. Light body for so much flavor. Very tart, dry, bittersweet, Belgian-style "digestive" finish. Well-crafted and delicious. I want some more.
